Parx Spot Plays

Race 3: #5 Peak of Chic

  • Peak of Chic is now at Parx after being claimed last time out at Canterbury by Lou Linder Jr. This horse shows a lot of early speed and I think she will take to the Parx surface today just fine. Lou Linder is having an amazing year and when him and Dexter Haddock link up off the claim, the races usually result in great performances. Today should be similar.

Race 8: #4 Huqooq

  • Huqooq is an interesting first time starter for Mike Pino. Pino when debuting horses at a mile or longer is 3 for 5 over the past year. Today he debuts an Union Rags filly at a Mile. This filly was bred by Shadwell but was sold to Double B Stables LLC. The workout tab has been a weekly consistent schedule coming into this race and I like that. I think this horse could be live today.

Race 9: #2 Portal Creek

  • Portal Creek will not be 8/1 today but if he is anywhere above 6/1 I will be betting a pretty penny on this horse today. She is a graded stakes placed mare and Those two graded stakes placings were in G3 races at Aqueduct where she lost both races by a combined length. This is her 2nd race off the layoff since finishing 2nd in the Distaff Handicap G3 race at Aqueduct. Off the layoff she finished at the far back at Churchill. Now Ten Strike ships to Parx where they do well at and cuts her back a furlong which only helps her tactical speed run style. This field isn’t that tough and I think she can win on class alone.
