Parx Spot Plays

Race 5: #8 Fly Fly Bird

  • Fly Fly Bird is dropping into this level which is the lowest the connections can go at this point at Parx and if they wanted to drop it even lower they would have to travel to Penn National. She has 3 3rds under her belt in just 5 starts to her 2yo campaign that will be over by the end of the week. This is the last chance for her to win as a 2yo and I think she can do it. She should’ve won her last start but was bumped out of the turn and lost momentum but still had her best race. Today this field is weak and should be a lot easier to run down late.

Race 7 Mrs. Claus Stake: #4 Don’t Call Me Mary

  • Don’t Call Me Mary handed local legend Chub Wagon her first loss back in August here at Parx for Todd Pletcher. She ran last in a G2 in New York after the Parx effort and then came back after a short layoff and won an OC race at Laurel. Now she returns to Parx where she arguably ran her best race in recent memory if not ever. Kendrick Carmouche gets the call today and I actually prefer that. I think the way Kendrick has been riding at Parx since his return from injury is all that this horse needs. She is talented and Kendrick knows this track like the back of his hand, and that combination today seems to be all that they need to win.

Race 8: #5 Why Why Paul Why

  • Why Why Paul Why is in great form right now and he is just dominating his competition. Since coming to Parx he is 4 for 5 with wins and the 1 non win was a close 2nd. Adorno will be giving this horse a good trip and I think he can win his 5th race today. This race is tough and very deep but I think this is the horse who’s in the best form.
