Parx Racing 7/6/21

Parx Spot Plays for Tuesday 7/6/21

Race 1

#6 Walk Me Home was claimed at Churchill Downs for JKX Racing and Penny Pearce back in May. We took a Penny Pearce horse that won off the claim and then made it two in a row yesterday so I’m trying the same angle today. Jorge Vargas Jr, gets the call today and I like that a lot. I think this horse will be much the best here.

Race 7

#7 Get the W scratched last week and I guess pointed to this spot instead. Wesley Torres gave this horse a great trip last time out and he got up for 2nd at 27/1. I am hoping today will be similar and he can get the job done on this horse. This horse hasn’t won in the last 21 starts at least but every horse has his day and today could be the day. He is dropping in class back to a CLM7500N1Y instead of an open 8 which I think is more suitable for him as well.

Race 8

#8 Green Growth should improve off that very game effort last time out. Apprentice Courtney Giraldo did what she was supposed to do with this horse by going to the lead, but she was headed down the stretch by the eventual winner, and then she went to the left hand which she doesn’t do as often or as well as she should but she is getting better with time with that and once she went to the left for a whip or two the horse re-engaged and almost won and actually passed the winner right after the wire. I think now with some experience on this horse and not much speed other than her, she could hold on and get more out of this horse today.

Race 10 – G3 Dr. James Penny Memorial

#10 Madita(GER) is who I am going to go with in the feature Grade 3 race today at Parx. The main shippers all scratched today which is sad to see, but it opens up the race a little more in my opinion. Madita ran a very good race 2 back at Kentucky Downs but that was late last summer. She then went to Presque Isle Downs for a stake and didn’t enjoy the synthetic at all. After that race in October she went on the shelf until today. Arnaud Delacour is great with these layoffs and Hector Diaz Jr. has improved his riding a lot since switching his tack to Monmouth and having to be better at riding without the whip. Today he gets to use the whip and the horse should be fresh. If she can get to the lead she will be tough but I like my chances with her regardless.

Race 11

#9 Livin a Dream should be able to improve in the nightcap today. Haleem Lee’s horse are running well lately and David Cornier is still looking for his first career win since moving his tack to the states from Puerto Rico. This horse’s last effort was solid for the condition and it was at Penn National. I usually hate Penn National form and how it translates to Parx form but I think the 13 pound difference by switching to the bug boy and also how weak this field is should be positives. I also can’t pass up 8/1 odds here even though I think those will be cut in half.
