Parx Racing 3/1/22

Parx Spot Plays

Race 1: #5 Kane

  • Kane is now in the Mike Aro barn after running poorly as a two year old for Mike Maker. This was a private purchase and now faces Maiden 10K at Parx and gets lasix for the first time as he is now running as a 3yo. The main contender on the rail scratched out of this field and I think that makes Kane the horse to beat. I think Ruben Silvera hopping aboard this horse also helps and if everything goes to plan, this horse should dominate.

Race 4 #6 Jean Valjean

  • Jean Valjeen is a first time starter facing experienced maidens but not the best bunch of experienced maidens. I always lean to first time starters against a group of lackluster maidens. I think this horse is interesting because the connections are on the smaller side and aren’t really Parx connections. This horse is a PA bred so I understand the placing but when a jockey like Carol Cedeno who has won tons of races at Parx over the past decade comes to ride a first time starter, I will always look towards that horse. Workouts have been solid but nothing flashy and I think that this gelding has had a pretty easy and laid back workout campaign coming into this and this horse might just be fresh.

Race 6: #2 Peach Perfect

  • Peach Perfect ran very well in debut but had to run over a wet surface that day. This filly ran behind a very good horse who won by 7 lengths. I think a fast surface will help and she gets lasix for the first time today. Frankie Pennington and John Servis win with this angle all the time and I think they can beat this field today.
