Race 4: #1 Tribord
- Tribord ran a huge race in her Parx debut for Jacinto Solis last time out. I think this field is a tad bit weaker than the previous one which only helps this filly. Salgado will have the rail today as he breaks on this filly from the 1 hole. I think those factors all help this horse today and 2nd time over the surface and 2nd time running in the Solis barn are also benefits.
Race 7: #3 Kit Kat Katie
- Kit Kat Katie has struggled since leaving the Jamie Ness barn but seems to be turning it around at the perfect moment which leads me to think this horse has a really good effort still left in her. With the #1 and #2 scratching out of this race, this horse will be breaking from the rail. This should help her with that tactical speed she showed last time out and I expect her to be sent out of the gate due to post position now. If she can get an easy or “easyish” lead I think she will be tough to pass down the lane.
Race 9: #8 Koan
- Koan just missed last time out but now with the recent allegations and suspension for jockey Mychel Sanchez on “betting and race fixing” we won’t really know if this horse was much the best last time out or was just hanging around late. However, today we get Jorge Vargas Jr, who should be able to give this horse a respectable ride. Phil Aristone is 25% out of 32 starts second off the claim which is what today is. Vargas doesn’t ride often for Phil so this should be a live horse as Vargas is one of the top jockeys at parx.
