Parx Racing 3/17/21
Race 1- 1M CLM12500N2L
Picks- 7-2-1
#7 Classified Info is now in the Lou Linder barn after being sent to Parx from Turfway. He has his best races on the synthetic but I think he will take the Parx surface well. Ruben Silvera gets the call here today and Ruben is the best jockey at Parx currently like I say every day, if he picks up a mount on a horse he has never ridden before, 9 out of 10 times he will improve that horse. Should be tough here at 6/1ML.
#2 Afleet Melody is 2nd off the claim for Jordan Bullock and this horse improved a ton since joining this barn. It could have been a fluke performance as the track wasn’t favorable to the early speed last time out. Yet I think with the moisture in the track from the rain overnight, that this horse will benefit from it.
#1 Call Fitzroy is in for Joe Taylor and finally broke his maiden in his lucky 13th start for MCL10K last time out. I think he finally got over that hurdle or not having a win and will be more consistent now. Sometimes all it takes is that first win and the horse can put it all together more. Frankie Pennington gets the call today and I expect more from this horse today.
Race 2- 6F OC16K/SAL16K
Picks- 6-5-3
#6 Shirleytheshopper has been claimed in each race she has ever run. She should be on the lead early or at least pressing the pacesetters. She runs for Ralph Riviezzo now and Mychel Sanchez keeps the call here. I think she improves a ton here today.
#5 Mineshaft Magic is in for Claudio Gonzalez and Luis Ocasio. She never really took the Parx surface too well as a Maiden but since she finally got that win under her belt, I think her return to Parx will result in improvement. Should be coming off the pace.
#3 Dial a Lady is trying Parx again after being outrun early last time out. She should get a faster track today but I don’t know if that is what she needs. She also gets Lasix for the first time in her career which should help. The fact Laprida returns is also a positive.
Race 3- 1M 1/16th CLM5000N1Y
Picks- 5-3-2
#5 Jammin Jimtown is back in the Jamie Ness barn after being claimed back off of Melecio Guerrero. Jamie Ness had this horse in a great spot when he had him a couple starts back, and bought him back today. Ruben Silvera gets the call again and I think the odds on this horse is a huge overlay as Jamie Ness is 33% off the claim.
#3 Arrivederci just missed last time out and returns for the same race today. I think he used a lot of stamina in that Penn National race and that he got tired late last time out. I think the 2 week turnaround should help, especially with this field.
#2 Three Phase is off the claim for Michael Pino. Mychel Sanchez usually hops on the live ones that Pino claims so I like this move today. He should be pressing the leaders and sitting like 3rd or 4th down the backstretch. Should be making one move and I like his chances.
Race 4- 7F MCL10K
Picks- 8-4-5
#8 Spun Run was my top pick two weeks ago in this same race at 7F and failed to win but just missed. Today they return her to this level and stay at 7F which should be helpful. Pennington keeps the mount and they keep blinkers on to try and get her to focus. Should be tough in this spot.
#4 Wish for Magic is exactly what I am doing with picking this horse. The drop in class on top of the shipping into Parx and adding Ruben Silvera are all positives. She has competed against tougher and still hit the board. I think the drop in class and against this field should both lead to improvements.
#5 Mutannaahy failed to show up last time out after just missing in her debut. The track was really biased last time out and she was bumped at the start which cost her being able to sit close. I think if she breaks clean today and with the jockey switch, this horse should end up improving.
Race 5- 6F MSW
Picks- 1-3-6
#1 Diesel is the only first time starter in this field and that is the advantage I need here. Scott Lake is not good the first time out but he puts Jamie Rodriguez on this horse who connects with Lake at a 36% clip. A1A racing bred and now owns this horse which is also a good to see. His workouts are solid and he is already gelded.
#3 Call Me G Q gets the jockey upgrade to Ruben Silvera and Randy Allen moves him up to a statebred MSW group that is more built like a MCL 20K. He stumbled badly last time out and I think a clean break and a jockey upgrade is all he needs to win.
#6 Myhessexpress has been running at this level for quite some time. John Kirby has him cross entered at Penn National tonight but this field is a lot weaker than the fields he was facing previously and it’s always a good sign when Laprida stays with a horse. Should see improvement today.
Race 6- 1M CLM7500N3L
Picks- 3-8-5
#3 Fine One Won dominated last time out for Danny Velazquez and was claimed for Michael Pino. However, even after the dominant win and with new connections, she is still running for the same level. I think that is the scary part of backing her at 5/2 ML.
#8 River Sonata is returning to the same exact race as 2 weeks ago. In that race he was on the lead and got caught late. Today he hopefully will get a better trip and can sit right off the leaders ready to make one run.
#5 Our Flirtation is finally getting a jockey upgrade in Abner Adorno. This Ten Strike racing mare is better than she has performed lately. This is the 2nd race off the claim for Juan Carlos Guerrero which is always a positive. The more Carlos gets to work on these horses the better.
Race 7- 6 ½ F OC50K/N1X
Picks- 7-3-2
#7 Beautiful Grace should be the leader early and it also helps her break from the outside post.
Ruben Silvera keeps the call and this will be the first time Jamie Ness has given this horse Lasix which is huge. Should be tough to catch down the stretch.
#3 Aegean Sea is in for the first time as a 3yo and Ten Strike has taken their time with this filly. This filly also gets Lasix for the first time. She seems to be working very nicely too in her training to get back to the track. Should be better here today.
#2 B B’s Rocket gets Abner Adorno today because Frankie chose to ride the John Servis filly here. I like this move actually because I am not a fan of the John Servis filly and I also think Adorno is the better jockey. She should improve today with more experience.
Race 8- 1M ALW8000s
Picks- 3-5-4
#3 Unbridledadventure closed super wide last time out and just got up for 3rd. I think a better trip would have resulted in at least a 2nd last time out. I think this field is slightly weaker this time out and I think that also will improve her running.
#5 Handle With Care has won two in a row and she looks for 3 today. She absolutely loves Parx and is 3 for 4 lifetime here. She could be on the lead early but I know for sure she will be trying. If she gets the lead she should win.
#4 Oceano Rosso was super game last time out and won for 12,500. She should be close today if not on the lead. Jorge Gonzalez is hit or miss lately but he does try and I think he will be aggressive with her today.
Race 9- 1M 1/16th ALW8000s
Picks- 3-2-5
#3 Flat Out Flashy is coming in off the claim for Jamie Ness. This horse dominated last time out when he was claimed and won by 12 lengths. Frankie Pennington gets the call today which is a great sign off the claim for Ness. Should be sitting the perfect trip.
#2 Sheer Flattery didn’t perform last time out for this same level. I do like the return to the level and Ruben Silvera gets the call. I think he can return to the form he had two races ago today. He will be closer today.
#5 Bobbyfromthepalm gets Laprida back today and Laprida has experience with this horse. He will be pressing today and Laprida is aggressive. Hopefully the track won’t be biased today and he can get a fair go around.
Race 10- 1M 70Y ALW41000N1X
Picks- 4-3-2
#4 Cousin Basil should get the lead to herself here today. She also will be getting a huge upgrade in jockey from Dylan Davis to Ruben Silvera. I think if she gets the lead early, she should be tough to catch.
#3 Evil Woman should be pressing the 4 horse here and gets Jeremy Laprida aboard today and that is an upgrade from Hector Caballero. This is a good spot for this horse and I think the ML explains that. Should see improvement.
#2 Jumpintoaction isn’t classy here but she is coming off a win and she just broke her maiden. I like that Mychel Sanchez kept the call and she always tries but she finally got her way last time out. I think she can surprise here as she should have more confidence.
Race 11- 1M CLM7500N1Y
Picks- 4-2-5
#4 Mucho Mas Grande was claimed by Ralph Riviezzo last time out and is bumped up in class to open company today. I think at 8/1 ML this horse offers a ton of value as he is in good form. He should be flying late and I think can make some noise at a price.
#2 Starinthemaking is coming in off the claim for Dandy and was previously running for Jamie Ness. I usually don’t like the claim off Ness but I think the fact Frankie Pennington stayed aboard here and the class stayed the same are both positives. He should be able to win today.
#5 Powerful Venezuela was claimed last time out for Donald White off of Freddy Velazquez. Ruben Silvera returns today aboard this horse and Ruben used to ride this horse back last summer. He produced good results out of him and I think today he can do the same.
