Parx Spot Plays

Race 2: #11 Taino

  • Taino is now running out of the Jamie Ness barn after he was claimed last time out off of Patrick McBurney at Delaware. The horse breaks slow each time he runs and at Delaware it is hard to make up that much ground on the dirt. Now that he is in Jamie Ness’s barn and gets the aggressive Ruben Silvera aboard, I think he can break more alertly and should be more forwardly placed. However, if he does break slow, this track has been pretty fair as of late and he could be able to make up some ground even from the back of the pack.

Race 6: #7 Star Luck

  • Star Luck should be on the lead early or right behind the cheaper speed today. Paco Lopez has been crushing Parx and is always tough when in front. Juan Carlos Guerrero has been quiet this year but his claiming numbers always impress me even if they are lower this year. This horse should be able to improve but won’t need to improve by a lot in order to win. His recent form should be good enough to win this race and if he does improve on the barn switch it will only help his chances today.

Race 8: #10 Fine One Won

  • Fine One Won is always consistent in form and faces a somewhat easier field than last time. The only flaw I have with this horse is the post position she has today. She will be sent to the lead as usual but from the #11 hole, it will be harder for her to get over if others send early. I believe in Mychel Sanchez to get this horse to stay comfortable even if she is wide or has to work hard early to get that early lead or any type of positioning. That being said, I think she is still the horse to beat in this field.
