Players’ Podcast–November 23, 2021–Mark Cramer on Please Hold All Tickets

It’s a special edition of the show where PTF sits down with legendary handicapping author Mark Cramer to discuss a reissue of his handicapping novel — yes, that’s a thing — Please Hold All Tickets. The book is a retelling of Cervantes’ Don Quixote, through the lens of horse racing and handicapping in the late 1980s. Despite that, many of its lessons — on racing and life — are just as relevant today as they were back then. To buy the book, go here. Or you can find over at amazon.

    • That’s Racetrack by Nick County. I did an interview with him at some point that you can find where he played it live. Use the search feature on the blog page. And if you struggle lmk and I’ll dig up the link.

  • PTF – great interview. I knew of Mark Cramer but first time listening to him. I’ve ordered the book. Hopefully, while riding his bike uphill he will get the inspiration to reissue Kinky Handicapping. Thanks for mentioning UNLV Library and their collection of gambling books. That’s something I would enjoy checking out next time in Las Vegas.

    • Fantastic! LMK what you think of the book and that’s a good idea about Kinky Handicapping. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.
