The Shipping Forecast – Del Mar – 9/4/22

Course: Del Mar

Race: Race 7

Horse: Pearl Glory

Trainer/Jockey: Leonard Powell – Ramon Vazquez

Breeding: 3-year-old filly; Cotai Glory – Oatmeal (Dalakhani)

Previously trained by Kevin Philippart de Foy. A winner of two of her seven starts, Pearl Glory has not won since landing the first two races of her career, both of which came in Novice contests. She has, however, run very well in much better races since, including when narrowly touched off in Group 3 races at Salisbury (as a juvenile) and Lingfield (on her first start of her 3-year-old season). She was a tad disappointing at Musselburgh, but ran well at Deauville when last seen. We figure she can run to around an 85 Beyer which would put her well clear here, but there are a couple of issues as Pearl Glory is unproven over a mile, can start slowly and has yet to show her best form around a bend. A wide post is not ideal either, so she is probably best watched here despite having the most ability in the field.
