Woodbine 8/9/2020 – Coatney Review

Race 7: OC $15k 6f (T)

Always cool to see a 10 year old speedster.

Best Value: #2 Ben Lomond (12-1) Had the hardest trip of all in the last event at Woodbine where four runners are entered here today. Stalked the speeds, making a long sustained bid while traveling wide. Projects a bit better trip today with plenty of speed to stalk.

Most Logical:  #3 Constantino (9/2) 10 year old hard trier should have a nice speed and ground saving trip. The main competitor of our next horse.

Beatable Favorite: #6 Big League (8/5) We see this race playing out almost exactly like the race two back vs. our logical choice (#3 Constantino). Will have to travel wide and try to catch the 10 year old Constantino.

Race 8: OC $65k 6f (T)

Hoping for the pace setup to get our value horse home.

Best Value: #4 Fresh Dreams (20-1 but could easily see half that price) In the last two starts was carried wide without a pace to run into, so we’ll excuse the dull efforts. With the strong recent works and the proven past form running competitive numbers, we think there’s some value to be had.

Most Logical: #6 Foxxy Belle (1-1) Clear speed of the race and drops back down into easier ranks today. Should break cleanly and have no problem managing a rail trip. If there’s pressure early from the likes of #7 Miss Savvy and #3 Hell N Wild, this could get interesting for our value horse.

Race 9: Clm $10k 5f (T)

Murky race for us with these claimers.

Most Logical: #3 Amnesty (3-1): Gets back to a surface today where has a career best Beyer. Stein stays aboard for the second off the layoff attempt for this 4 y/o. There’s still plenty of upside here to improve.

Best Value: #5 Radio Nowhere (20-1) In past two outings, has been burned by hot paces early in the running. Today, should get a nicer trip with no as much pace pressure. The cut back in distance helps, too. Might be able to shake loose?
