Aqueduct Plays for 4/15/23 By Robbie Fazzone

AQUEDUCT 4/15/23

RACE 7- TURF ONLY

4- STARTS NOW- Raced greenly up the backstretch with her head turned outside, was bumped soundly going into the turn and then put in an okay stretch run, while still running greenly, when 4th in a state bred filly Sp. Wt. going six furlongs on the turf in first career start in October. Showed inside speed for a quarter, before retreating to the back, when eased going one mile on the dirt at that same level in second start in November. Gets back on the grass today, while coming off the five month break and will stretch out to 1 1/16 miles for this state bred filly Sp. Wt. Is a sibling to, Distorted Beauty and Invading Humor, who were two very solid state bred filly turf runners, both sprinting and routing, so the stretch out shouldn’t be an issue for her. Gets a good post and she should run a big race in here.

RACE 8

3- NOLO CONTESTO- Raced wide throughout when stalking from the four to five path, before making the lead turning for home in runner -up finish in a 25k NW3L going the two turn mile at Santa Anita in latest 2/19. Was claimed by Wong out of that race, but has since been purchased by Jacobson, who confidently moves him up into this starter allowance at six furlongs. Has run well in sprints in the past, cutting back from the one mile trip from his last several races shouldn’t be an issue and he is a strong contender in this spot.

RACE 9- TURF ONLY

2- ROMAN GODDESS- Went 0 for 4 as a two year old last year when running in filly Sp. Wts. sprinting on the dirt. She did run okay, however, in two of those runs when finishing 3rd at Keeneland and Churchill last fall and will try the grass today for her first race since December in this turf sprint for filly Sp. Wts. She should handle this kind of trip fine and while Maker goes with apprentice rider Torres here, as of this posting this filly isn’t listed as getting the 5 pound apprentice weight allowance. Nonetheless, she is expected to show marked improvement moving to the turf and she’s dangerous in the finale.
