Aqueduct Plays for 4/22/23 By Robbie Fazzone

AQUEDUCT 4/22/23

RACE 1- TURF ONLY

9- PAUCILOQUENT- Broke slowly, ran greenly while resenting the kickback and was therefore kept well out in the track in 4th place finish in a 3 year old filly state bred 40k maiden claimer in first career start in January. Again appeared uncomfortable with the dirt in her face when behind a wall of horses, before finishing mildly up the rail when 7th at this 3 and up state bred filly 40k maiden claiming level in second career start in March. Moves to the grass for this turf sprint and she should’ve gotten needed seasoning with those first two dirt runs. Should move much smoother on the grass and she can turn things around today.

RACE 4- TURF ONLY

12- ROYAL DANCER- Was a sharp gate to wire winner at odds on of a state bred filly Sp. Wt. over this trip two back in September. Found herself racing in mid pack behind horses after stumbling leaving the gate and lacked the needed finishing kick in the stretch run when 5th as the favorite in a state bred filly 1x allowance, again over this trip, in latest last October. Although the turf was listed as firm that day, chunks of sod were flying and I’m not sure that’s this fillies preferred ground. Ran big in defeat going longer in a couple of NY Stallion stakes for fillies last summer and she’s a nice fit in this six furlong turf sprint for state bred filly 1x allowance runners. With several speed types entered in here, I like the outside draw for her, as she appears to be tactical enough to sit just off the pace if need be. Should return with a big race and factor strongly today.

RACE 6- TURF ONLY

7- VOLCKER RULES- Has shown next to nothing in his first three career starts over the winter when running on the dirt against state bred maiden claimers and state bred Sp. Wts. Switches to the turf for this 40k state bred maiden claimer to be run at 1 1/16 miles and there is enough pedigree to suggest that he’ll handle this trip. Donk is no stranger to having these types wake up and this colt obviously doesn’t have to be a turf titan to seriously threaten against this soft bunch of state bred maiden claimers.
