AQUEDUCT 3/11/23
RACE 5
2- ARREBATO- Finished an okay, though a well beaten, 2nd against 3 year old 40k maiden claimers going 6 1/2 furlongs in first career outing 2/12. Was stretched out to this one mile distance at the same level for his second start 12 days later, where he broke well, was taken in hand to track, held his inside position going into the turn, before angling out a path turning for home and kicking away nicely for the easy score. Goes in this 3 year old Starter Allowance for his first try with winners and won’t be facing any world beaters in this spot. Should hold his form for another race, the inner draw is a plus and a similar type of trip he had in his maiden win makes him a strong threat in here.

RACE 8
4- RESERVE CURRENCY- Settled near the back, made a strong inside run on the turn, angled out and then ran away from them in the stretch in maiden win against Sp. Wts. going this one mile trip off a 3 month freshening in 4th career start 2/2. Was a little late to change to his right lead after straightening in the stretch and ducked in slightly. But once he changed over to that correct lead just outside the eighth pole he was straight and strong, while pulling away from the field through the final furlong. I think there’s still some upside to this 4 year old colt and any expected improvement off his last race is going to make him tough once again today.

7- SECRET LOVE- After finishing a no factor 4th in a 3x optional claimer going 7 furlongs in the slop two races back in January, this filly rebounded with a solid 3rd at that same level and distance in her latest 2/10. That day, she sat inside just off the pace, before being sent through an opening on the rail at the 3 furlong mark to take a brief lead, but would go on to weaken in the stretch. Should’ve gotten a lot out of that race from a fitness standpoint and the cutback to 6 furlongs today should benefit her. Appears to be coming back around to one of her better races, any sort of a wet track won’t hurt and her best puts her squarely in this.

RACE 10
11- FOURFAITH- Bumped his right backside on the gate coming out of there, then chased outside for a quarter, before throwing in the towel and being essentially eased in last place finish against auction restricted Sp. Wts. when debuting in the mud at Saratoga last July. Has been away since and returns today going 6 1/2 furlongs in this state bred 25k maiden claimer as a new gelding. I’m going to look past that debut, almost as if it didn’t happen and I like the outside draw for him in here. Certainly isn’t facing any thrillers in this spot and can factor strongly against this ability challenged field in the finale.
