AQUEDUCT 3/18/23
RACE 3
3- CUSTOMEREXPERIENCE- Was a little slow into stride from the gate to trail the field, had to briefly await room approaching the head of the stretch, angled outside after straightening and then finished with a good outside run through the final three sixteenths, but was out kicked to the wire when 2nd in a 6 furlong, 40k claimer 1/8. Finished with a nice outside run once again when 2nd at that same level going 6 1/2 furlongs in follow up race 2/10. Got claimed by Rice out of that race and she’ll step this 6 year old mare up into a 2x optional claimer today. This is obviously a tougher spot than her latest two, but she did fare well with a nice 3rd place finish at this level back in October and Rice has been putting apprentice, Huayas, on plenty of live horses this winter. Can get back to one of her better races for the new barn and this eight time winner is a strong contender in here.

RACE 9
4- FABULOUSLY FUNNY- Buckled a step out of the gate in her first career start, before running up into an inside spot where she would track closely, but would have to steady going into the turn, causing her to get shuffled back and lose several lengths. She then got herself back together with urging from the rider and would put in a solid run, while a bit green, through the final quarter to finish a close 3rd. Improved in her second start when winning a 3 year old filly Sp. Wt. in the slop as the favorite 2/17. Her winning maiden race came two races earlier on the same card as DOWNTOWN MISCHIEF’S 1x state bred allowance win at the same 6 furlong distance on a day when wind played a factor and although the latter’s figure came up much stronger, I’m not convinced the discrepancy in their performances is as big as the figures suggest. Will have to show further improvement moving into stakes company here, but she’ll get a dry track for the first time and while she’s run well on off tracks in her first two starts, a fast track certainly shouldn’t hurt. Can continue with another forward move in her third career start and she’s a danger in the Cicada.

RACE 10
10- TUNNEL VISION- Finished a well beaten 2nd in a 3 year old, 40k state bred maiden claimer over an inside favoring track behind a horse that came back to run well in a starter allowance two races back 1/27. Was claimed by Maker out of that race and was doing well coming up to the 3 year old state bred Sp. Wt. that his new trainer stepped him up to for his next race. In that race, he stumbled badly coming out of the gate, slamming his face into the ground and losing the rider in the process. Is kept at the same level today, has had a solid morning prep in the interim and will be equipped with blinkers for the first time today. Gets a nice outside draw for this 7 furlong event and can bounce back from the fall with a big race in the nightcap.
