Aqueduct Spot Plays for 3/5/23 By Robbie Fazzone

AQUEDUCT 3/5/23

7- WICKED LADY- Put in a modest run in the final quarter when 4th at this 16k NW2L number going this 6 furlong distance two races back in December. Added blinkers for his next start at this level again, while being stretched out to one mile, where he tracked, took over the lead three furlongs out, but faltered in the stretch run to finish a well beaten 3rd in January. Keeps the blinkers on, shortens back up to 6 furlongs and that last race should have him tightened up nicely for this. Barker had a big priced winner last week with Martinez riding and this filly is back in the right situation to run a big race today.

RACE 6

3- REGGAE MUSIC MAN- State bred was a nice winner of a 7 furlong first level allowance against open runners three back, before trailing throughout in a 7 furlong state bred stake in his follow up start. Was stretched out to one mile at this 2x optional claiming level for his latest start and was a non factor. Shortens back up to a more suitable distance of 6 furlongs for this and has the blinkers back on after having them removed for his last four starts. This gelding’s best races have come when wearing blinkers and an expected return to his better form makes him a strong threat today.

RACE 7

6- TOXIC GRAY- Was privately purchased out of his career debut, where he finished 2nd in a 40k maiden claimer at Tampa in late December. Paid immediate dividends to his new connections when they brought him to their home base here for his next start, where he made a big outside move to collar the odds on favorite turning for home and then out gamed him in a stretch long duel to win a Sp. Wt. going this 6 furlong trip in February. That maiden claimer he ran in in his first start made him eligible for this starter allowance and he’s in a good spot today to steal a purse before potentially moving on to face tougher. Should be tough to beat in here.
