BELMONT 5/7/23
RACE 3- TURF ONLY
2- CONSUMER SPENDING- Finished a nice rallying 3rd behind her stablemate and a nice Godolphin filly in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks going 1 1/4 miles on the turf here two races back last July. Didn’t have the best of setups when 4th behind her stablemate, who set an easy pace while wiring the field, in the Grade 2 Lake Placid going 1 1/6 miles on the inner turf at Saratoga when last raced in August. Returns off the eight month layoff as one of a quartet C. Brown has in here and this Grade 2 turf winning filly has been very solid in her 8 lifetime starts, while facing top fillies. She’ll be revved up for her four year old debut and should be tough in the Grade 3 Beaugay.

RACE 6- TURF ONLY
1- WINGS LIKE EAGLES- Got rolling in mid stretch from the back of the pack, before being taken up in the final sixteenth when 5th in a Sp. Wt. going this seven furlong trip on this turf course last June. Ran okay as the favorite in two subsequent starts when going one mile in Sp. Wts. on the grass at Saratoga and Kentucky Downs, before being moved to the dirt for her next four starts, which included her maiden breaker against filly Sp. Wts. going seven furlongs at Aqueduct in February. Went back to the grass for her first try with winners in a 1x allowance at six furlongs and had no finishing stretch kick in a 5th place finish after being a bit headstrong on the inside behind a hot pace. Stays on the turf for this 1x allowance at seven furlongs and this trip is the one that hits her sweet spot. Isn’t the easiest horse to ride, but she fits nicely in this field and can run big in this spot today.

RACE 8- TURF ONLY
1- LIBRETTO- Showed some promise in first career start when finishing 3rd in a Sp. Wt. going one mile on the Aqueduct turf last year. Never ran back to that run in her subsequent six starts when tried at varying distances against Sp. Wt. competition and was given a three and a half month break following her worst race to date in November. Returned in March and was ridiculously spotted in the tough Grade 3 The Very One going 1 3/8 miles on the grass at Gulfstream, where she led briefly leaving the gate, before tracking in second and fading in the last quarter to finish last of ten in her latest. Despite her finishing position that day, she actually didn’t run as bad as her finish suggests and she could wake up with a big run while getting back to a maiden sp. wt. today.

RACE 9- TURF ONLY
2- POPPY FLOWER- A multiple turf sprint stakes winner, this fillies typical strong stretch kick came up a little flat when she finished 3rd in an optional claimer going six furlongs on the turf at Aqueduct off a seven month break 4/14. Makes her second start back off that layoff in this filly stake at six furlongs on the grass and she ran one of her better races when winning a turf sprint stake at Laurel in her second off the layoff last year. Should improve off that initial run back and is a strong final furlong factor in the License Fee.
