Gulfstream Park – Late Pick 5 Sequence – Friday (March 06, 2026) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 Sequence

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.  To be more judicious with our bankroll in 2026, I will be taking a more targeted approach in Pick 5 selections and include some win bets and doubles when the opportunities arise.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   5 – 1

#5 Beautiful Bolt ran at this level last time out and put in a good effort finishing second best.   #1 Widerthanamile proved last time out that her running style is a good fit for GP as she shipped in from Tampa and got the victory.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   7 – 8- 1 – 5

#7 My Sweetheart has great early speed but has yet to be able to ration it correctly, except for on debut; we will allow grace and see if she can get the job done this time.  #8 Pulstar will be running first off the claim for trainer Michael Maker, she currently has a pattern of good race bad race going; last time was not good so we will include her in hopes of continuing the cycle.  #1 Black Cherry won on debut last time out in her first career outing, that race was taken off the turf and she still ran well; as a daughter of the sire Liam’s Map she is expected to do well on the grass.  #5 Glancing My Way will have to run a little faster, but she is gritty and can run on the lead but doesn’t need to.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   2 – 7

In race eight we will rely on the first time starters: #2 Mo Rapido is a granddaughter of Uncle Mo and her dam has one winner from one starter, trained by Victor Barboza Jr.  #7 Starship Juliette also has good family lineage as she is a daughter of the sire Maclean’s Music and her dam has produced 2 winners from 4 starters.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   2

#2 Air Force Cruising will be our single in this sequence.  He will be running second off the layoff and with his early pace advantage should be enough to get him to the line first.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   2 – 7  – 3 – 8

#2 Asher’s Edge has the ability to be competitive at this level as he drops in class slightly.  #7 Masseto is in great form and trainer Mark Casse continues to do a good job of placing his horses.  #3 Mentee is making his return to the races after last being seen at the Breeders’ Cup in the Juvenile Turf of 2024.  Lot’s of talent and for this to be the time and the place for his return, in Pletcher we trust.  #8 Mattingly is returning from a eight month layoff and for just like #3 Mentee if the connections think this is the time, we should pay attention.

Today’s pick 5 ticket $.50 base (pre scratches) : 1,5 / 1,5,7,8 / 2,7 / 2  / 2,3,7,8  cost: $32

Let’s Make it Happen!!!

CAWs and Late Odds Drops

I don’t spend much time thinking or complaining about CAWs. But that’s because of the way I play horses. My bets go in very early (once scratches and...
