Late Pick 5 Sequence
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion. To be more judicious with our bankroll in 2026, I will be taking a more targeted approach in Pick 5 selections and include some win bets and doubles when the opportunities arise.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 11 – 10 -12
#11 La Cantera is a versatile running filly that should do well in this spot; she will be reunited with jockey Junior Alvarado, last time he was aboard they were victorious. #10 Etawa is a well-bred Ireland filly that will make her U.S. debut for connections that must be respected. #12 Turino will have to work out a trip from the far outside post, but is a mare that gives her all; jockey trainer combination of Husbands and Joseph have been working well in the past two weeks.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 3
# 3 Proud American is what I am and is also where we plant our flag in this sequence. This four-year-old gelding is owned and trained by Mary Eppler and is always well spotted as they look for a fourth consecutive victory.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 8 – 7
#8 Intricate Spirit ships in for this attempt at a graded stakes victory; the gelding has some impressive victories where he has shown the ability to stalk and pounce, which looks to be a good recipe for today’s tenth race. #7 Arbiter has proven his ability to run on multiple surfaces and run fast; he is running for strong connections and they opted out of a race last weekend for this attempt today.
Race 11 SELECTIONS: 9 – 8 – 5
#9 Compass Rises only runs at this level on the All-Weather and is consistent, she also has a good rapport with jockey Junior Alvarado. #8 Lois Len has great early speed and that’s always a positive for running on the All-Weather at Gulfstream Park. She won last time out using that tactic and will look to rinse and repeat. #5 Z First returns to the All-Weather after attempting the turf, before that attempt she won two in a row at this level.
Race 12 SELECTIONS: 2 – 1 – 5 – 7
#2 Big Magic gets some class relief and if she can duplicate her last effort should be in contention for the victory. #1 She’s Chloe is running second off a long layoff and was attempting to close into a very strong pace last time out. #5 Max has not had things go well in her three previous attempts, but they were not completely bad either. #7 Clockwise didn’t show much on debut but her pedigree suggest that she should like the grass.
Today’s pick 5 ticket $.50 base (pre scratches) : 10, 11, 12 / 3 / 7,8/ 5,8,9 / 1,2,5,7 cost: $36
