AQUEDUCT – 4/2/22

RACE 1: 2-5-3-1

#2 MONTAUK POINT goes third off a layoff for trainer Shug McGaughey after narrowly missing last time out at Gulfstream.  He has improved with experience and distance, and the addition of blinkers today should keep him more engaged early.  Look for him to arrive on the scene late.

RACE 2: 1-5-6-4

All aboard the ‘Wayne Potts Express’ as #1 TOTAL EFFORT faces winners for the first time.  He broke his maiden last time out in impressive fashion and is spotted realistically today.  Potts is 20% with claimers on dirt off of maiden wins ($3.46 ROI).  The lead is his for the taking.

RACE 3: 6-1-5-4

#6 GIRL OF TOSCONOVA goes third off a layoff and moves back into NY bred company for trainer Charlie Baker.  She has run well of late, including snagging the place dough against open company last time out.  That card featured a strong inside bias as well.

RACE 4: 6-5-4-2

#6 LIBERTY FLAME was highly regarded prior to his debut and ran a bang-up race to be second.  The eventual winner of that race, Cupid’s Heart, was very impressive and came back to win a stakes race in her next start.  This daughter of Bellamy Road gets Lasix now and should improve with experience.

RACE 5: 6-7-1-3

#6 SABREEN has rounded back into form since she relocated to the barn of Steve Asmussen.  She has good tactical speed and should be forwardly placed from the outset today.  Her best races would be too much for this field.

RACE 6: 4-3-1-6

The last effort from #4 SOUND MONEY was very solid and makes him the one to beat today.  Trainer Chad Brown initially entered him in a claiming race late last year and opted to go a different direction.  That decision paid off and he’s now looking like a stakes caliber runner.

RACE 7: 5-3-8-1

#5 DREAM BIGGER is in a good spot first off a claim and should be a factor from the start today.  Trainer Jeff Englehart is having a phenomenal winter when it comes to runners off the claim (5-12, $2.38 ROI).  Look for him to improve in this affair.

RACE 8: 5-2-3

While #5 FOREWARNED is still a good bet in here, he will not get as much pace to run at with the scratch of the rail runner.  You still have to take this guy as an alternative to the favorite #3 FIRST CONSTITUTION.

RACE 9: 7-9-4-1

#7 RIA’S ANGEL drops back in for a tag and fits much better here for trainer Carlos Martin.  There’s one major rival on the outside who is returning off a layoff, so the appeal here is broad.  Trevor McCarthy getting the call is only a positive.

AQUEDUCT SPRING STATS: 16: 3-7-1 $12.50
