AQUEDUCT – 2/21/22

RACE 1: 6-2-4-7

#6 ON THE HILL gets lasix and drops in class off a debut when he broke poorly in November.  The outside post will enable him to stalk and pounce today for a barn that has had a productive winter.  He should be a slight favorite in this field.

RACE 2: 5-2-1

#5 GINNSU WARRIOR cuts back in distance after racing along the dull inside last time out.  Trainer Mike Maker’s barn has heated up of late and this one should get a pace setup thanks to #2 BUSTIN PIETRE being in this field.

RACE 3: 4-3-7-1

#4 HIGH COMMAND was on a dead rail in his last start facing much tougher and now gets some class relief.  The cutback in distance will help his chances and you’ll get a square price here based on the low percentage connections.

RACE 4: 5-1A-6-2

#5 QUEENTIGUA just might be good enough to get the lead in a woeful race after the scratch of the morning line favorite.  She had been in decent form prior to her last start and now looks like the main speed.

RACE 5: 2-1-7-4

There’s little chance that #2 CAVE MAN goes off the morning line of 9/2 given his last Beyer speed figure and his apparent pace advantage.  Inside speed going 9 panels at the Big A is a huge advantage and this colt has been in good form of late.

RACE 6: 2-4-3-7

#2 SHASTA STAR is the one to beat after scratches reduced this field to five.  She returns off a layoff for a trainer whose barn has heated up of late, and she is quick enough to get the lead.  Even if Trevor McCarthy ends up rating off the pace, she has running lines that make her tough to handle.

RACE 7: 8-1-7-3

#8 YO CUZ is the one to beat off a powerful win last time out and he is the main speed on the outside.  He stepped up from the maiden ranks to score last time out and set a strong pace in doing so.  While he will have to rate today, that doesn’t loom a major issue given the improvement shown last time out.

RACE 8: 7-4-3-10

#7 FORESTWOOD LANE has had wide trips in his last two and the rail has been the place to be each time.  He starts for a barn that had an upset win yesterday afternoon and this gelding should get some pace to run at late today.
