AQUEDUCT – 1/27/22
RACE 1: 4-7-6-2
#4 ANY MINUTE ran a bang-up race last time out for Rudy Rodriguez and now goes 3rd off a layoff. He has improved with experience and has the ability to sit off the pace, which is a major factor in this race from a pace perspective.
RACE 2: 1-3-5-4
#1 PRINTRACK scored a maiden win last time out from which he was claimed by the astute barn of Mertkan Kantarmaci. He is the inside speed on a surface that strongly favored speed last week, so keep an eye on how the first race unfolds.
RACE 3: 2-4-5
#2 BIG AL’S GAL is the one to beat off a claim by Kelly Breen. This daughter of Al Khali was on the inside last time out on a day where the rail was not the place to be, so a better trip is in the offing. She is versatile in terms of running style and should be in stalk and pounce range.
RACE 4: 2-5-1-7
Given the preferred running style of #2 NO MORE MISCHIEF and the poor break from the gate last time, you have to give her another shot. She gets Lasix today for her 2nd start off a layoff and is quick enough to get control here from the start. An inside speed track would help.
RACE 5: 1-2-8-4
The last effort from #1 KING OF HOLLYWOOD was very strong and puts him in position to be one of the choices in here. He shortens up in distance and should be right on top of the pace just off the frontrunning types. Another step forward would hardly surprise.
RACE 6: 6-8-4-5
#6 ACTUARY goes first off a claim by Antonio Arriaga, who hits at a 25% clip with dirt routers first off of claims ($3.26 ROI). He was competitive last time out but disappointed relative to his closing odds. If he can stay close to the pace early that will help his chances.
RACE 7: 3-6-5-4
#3 MAKE IT IN NY goes first off a claim by the high percentage stable of Rob Atras. This barn is 35% at Aqueduct with dirt routers first off of claims over the last 5 years ($2.64 ROI) and this gelding will handle the 9 furlongs without issue. He should get pace to run at courtesy of his stablemate.
RACE 8: 6-8-2-4
#6 SICILIA MIKE is a late runner who is back against NY breds and figures to get a strong pace setup this afternoon. He has done some of his best work here at Aqueduct and should be a square price in a very competitive affair. Look for him in the waning stages.
