SARATOGA – 7/28/2021

RACE 1: 7-8-3

#7 LAOBAN’S LEGACY is a firster who worked :10 at the OBS April sale earlier this year and has a nice pedigree.  She is kin to 2 winners and it wasn’t long ago that trainer Jeremiah Englehart was considered the best trainer of 2YO NY bred first timers.

RACE 2: 4-5-1A

#4 FINGAL ran a credible race in his dirt debut and then faced much tougher at Belmont earlier this month.  He can make noise in a short field that lacks any real dirt form whatsoever.

RACE 3: 10-13-1-7

#10 MONTAUK DADDY looks like the best dirt horse in the field and has the speed to get control here from the start.  Trainer Rob Atras’ barn is quietly heating up at this meet, and this one has shown no problem with wet surfaces in the past.

RACE 4: 2-6-4-5

#2 SEA FOAM only knows one way to go and will be ridden aggressively here by Joel Rosario.  He was a wire-to-wire winner over this strip last year using bold tactics and he appears to be training forwardly for this his 2nd start off a layoff.  Getting Lasix again will help his cause.

RACE 5: 10-11-2-13

#10 COACH BAHE drops in class after facing 50k N2L sellers last time out and staying too close to a hot pace.  His best races have come when he’s laid back early to make one run, and those tactics are likely to be employed today.  All of his best dirt races have come on wet tracks.

RACE 6: 4-3-8-9

#4 SLIPSTREAM is a second timer who showed real ability on debut on the turf.  The dam here was stakes placed on the dirt and the pedigree is geared more towards the main track.  If he improves at all off of that unveiling then he’ll be a major threat.

RACE 7: 6-8-7-4

#10 SOUTHERN PASSAGE is a late runner who made a bold move up a poor inside last time out at Churchill Downs.  He is going to get a big pace to run at today and has largely kept strong company as a 3YO.  His lone win came on a wet strip and he’ll be rolling late in here.

RACE 8: 11-1-6

The last effort from #11 CLAYTNTHELIONHEART was good enough to win most N1X events around these parts and he now faces an even weaker field in his 5th career start at the Spa.  This son of Declaration of War is the only dirt horse in the field and should win for fun.

RACE 9: 1-5-4-7

The upside #1 MILES D possesses is enough to give him the nod in this event.  The quest is to find an alternative to #4 FIRST CAPTAIN, and this son of Curlin was an impressive maiden breaker last time out.  He should have no trouble with the added distance either.

RACE 10: 12-10-16-1

#12 TO THE TUNE has the best dirt form in the race and figures to get a good trip stalking from the outside.  She makes the third start of her form cycle as well, which is often a time when horses step forward.

SARATOGA 2021 STATS: 69-18-11-11  $138.70
