Late Pick 5 sequence:
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 4 – 6
#4 Unified Weekend – There is no better name to start your Friday Late Pick 5 off with more so than this one. – I am not crazy about his form but he is dropping in class and stretching out for solid connections. #6 Legend will get Lasix for the first time after a solid effort in which he broke his maiden, was placed first through disqualification. Has improved in both his starts and a move forward here today puts him in contention.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 2 – 5 – 1
#2 Sure Can is one of the youngsters with the most experience in this race. Coupled with solid connections and a very strong outing last time out in a similar race, makes her a strong win candidate. #5 Tactical Joke is a cool name by the way, is a first-time starter son of – You guessed it – Practical Joke. – Practical Joke’s progeny have been very good runners as they start their career and trainer Wesley Ward knows how to get them ready for a good debut also. #1 Accomplished Girl ran strong numbers on debut last time out. Her workout tab indicates that the first race performance could be a sign of better things to come.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 2 – 5
#2 Perfect Grace runs first time for the barn of Todd Pletcher after a fourteen month layoff. This Whisper Hill Farm home-bred has never been worse than third in her six lifetime starts. #5 Three Witches returns to a sprint distance after a brief layoff for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.; Johnny V. will be in the irons. All three of this fillies’ races have been well run, last time out she attended a hot pace and faded in the stretch.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 7 – 3
#7 Danger should be very dangerous in this spot; ships down from Woodbine for trainer Drexler Martin. This five-year-old mare is rarely off the board and based on her recent workout tab she should be ready to fire after the 50 day layoff. #3 Kizzy may offer value, she won last time out at a similar class level, but runs for a smaller barn and has a jockey in the saddle that is not name Irad Ortiz. 🙂
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 2 – 4 – 5
#2 Midnight Getaway drops in class today after two really good attempts and narrowly losing; last time he ran at this level he won by a nose. #4 Red Gun will attempt to close the deal himself after two narrow defeats at this level. Flatten out last time, but today will run a half a furlong shorter in distance. #5 Explosive Wave ran a JUST OK race last time out but it was his first attempt. He was claimed and today runs for new trainer Aubrey Maragh.
Let’s make it happen!!!
