On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Wednesday(February 15, 2023) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   5  –  6  –  8

#5 Ready to Repeat is a lightly raced five-year-old who has been away from the races for over a year.  He competed against much tougher and has been working out consistently for owner trainer Gail Cox.  #6 Tough Charlie is a five-furlong specialist that ships in for owner trainer Lee Thomas.  He has excellent early speed and gets the leading rider Irad Ortiz in the saddle.   #8 Little Juanito will be running first off the claim, after being given some time to rest for trainer Robert Hess Jr.  He is dropping in class and has back class that makes him a solid include.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   8  –  1

#8 She’s So Pretty has good versatile speed and just missed at this level last time.  She has been claimed in her last two starts at this level and today will be making her first start for trainer Sandino Hernandez Jr.; retains the services of jockey Emisael Jaramillo.  #1 Thrilling Baby will be running late in a race that looks to have lots of early speed with runners who have yet to prove they can finish the job.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   1  –  5

#1 Cape Cod will be running second off the layoff for trainer Kevin Attard.  The Woodbine shippers have been holding their own at this meet and he has a good mix of early and late speed.   #5 Worlds On High also drops back down to the claiming ranks where his recent form makes him competitive.  His early speed and change in surfaces are the angles for his include today.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   1  –  6  –  9

#1 Miss Domina has been away from the races for six months but runs for trainer George Weaver, who has solid stats with runners returning from long layoffs and she has been battle tested at higher levels.  #6 Frozen Solid broke her maiden last time out and steps up in class, but this daughter of Frosted continues to improve after each race.  #9 Designed by Kitten has been knocking at the door around this level for her past several attempts, let’s see if the jockey switch to Javier Castellano makes the difference.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   8  –  14(AE)  – 2  –  3

#8 No Action will be running second off the layoff for trainer Rohan Crichton.  Last time out she pressed a moderate pace and was unable to get by the winner, losing by a half a furlong.  14 AE Forever Uncaptured will also be running second off the layoff after narrowly being defeated, red hot jockey Luis Saez will be in the irons if this one makes the starting gate.  #2 Run for Cover has not been to the races since the summer when she ran up at Saratoga; today she attempts the All-Weather surface.  She ran fast early on in both of those races and should be able to compete well today.  #3 Noble Lady is a first time starter for trainer Philip Serpe.  This daughter of Hard Spun has shown good speed in her workouts.

Let’s make it happen!!!
