Presque Isle Downs (Tuesday 8/11/26) – by Chance Rains

What a day of action at Presque Isle on Monday. I think this Tuesday card has a shot to be even better! Let’s get right into it.

All times EDT

RACE 1 – 6 furlongs, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 3:30 p.m

Fozzer (#3) gets a drop in class and he has a pedigree I love, with Ghostzapper on the dam side. Trail Of Roses (#1) has arguably the highest ceiling of this field, gets Antonio Gallardo, and looked very solid on the lead last time out.

Race 1 selections:3-1

RACE 2 – 1 mile 70 yards, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 3:57

Very close field of competitors here. I’ll lean towards Del Rayo (#1) who retains jockey Walber Alencar and comes out of a very tough race on August 5th, facing Drunk On Sake and R Admiral. Tommy Bee (#6) changes to the meet’s leading rider Gaddiel Martinez, who might be able to unlock something out of this 7-year-old who’s run in the money half of his 8 starts at the distance. Marsac (#7) finally looks to be in form and should run even better today after a tough out against Driftwood and Maynard last out.

Race 2 selections:1-6-7

RACE 3 – 5 furlongs, Maiden Claiming $25,000 Post Time: 4:24

Juan Arriagada is 30% with 2-year-old runners and I want a piece of No Risk No Reward (#2) who is training exceptionally well but hasn’t answered the 5 furlong question yet. How much do you believe in Fair Hills? It isn’t my place to speculate but what I will do after my dreadful Saratoga Sunday (1 exacta and nothing else in 11 races) is abuse the angle until it stops working, and it’s ripe for the taking with a horse called Chachachaatthecopa (#3) who’s worked extensively there for Mark Shuman. Cerati (#5) probably fooled me with the works last time out, but I’m hoping that last race runs him into a contending form here today.

Race 3 selections:2-3-5

RACE 4 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 4:51

Bucchini (#4) at 4-1 is a price I think could go overlooked, considering she battled well in her last race against good horses and was only narrowly beaten. Red Hot Spark (#2) doesn’t have a slouch record on the tapeta and is in the money going 6 furlongs half the time in her career. Runaway Breeze (#5) sports one of the fastest last-out Beyer Speed figures in the field and has finished 3rd or 4th in every race this year.

Race 4 selections: 4-2-5

RACE 5 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 5:18

Blazing Bo (#1) might have the ticket on a track that seemed speed-favoring at times on Monday with his early running style. He also sports the highest last-out Beyer in the field. Mrs. Manicotti (#4) has back-to-back wins and gets Martina Rojas back from an illness. Thalberg (#6) comes out of Brandon Kulp’s stable and should hopefully have run himself into form by now to be competitive.

Race 5 selections: 1-4-6

RACE 6 – 6 furlongs, Starter Optional Claiming $13k Post Time: 5:45

Goodie Goomer (#2) comes into this race looking his best with back-to-back wins and I’ll always go for the horse on a streak. I don’t think Fadethenoise (#6) is done yet. I don’t like the fact Edwin Gonzales isn’t around for him but I’m not deterred by the jockey switch to fade him. Gotts Got It (#4) is a sneaky price and has shown the ability to close into a hot pace, so I think he’ll get up for third like he did last time out.

Race 6 selections:2-6-4

RACE 7 – 1 mile 70 yards, Starter Optional Claiming $13k Post Time: 6:12

Sweet Nola (#3) has finished within three lengths of the winner in each of her starts this year at PID, and she’s run in the money half of her 18 starts at the distance. Little Miss Munny (#1) is 11-for-17 at the distance and I don’t see many other consistent routers in the bunch. Needed (#4) needed the class drop and should look consistent staying at this level.

Race 7 selections:3-1-4

RACE 8 – 1 mile 70 yards, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 6:39

With so many droppers here I’ll take class veteran Twist ‘n Twirl, who sported a competitive 64 Beyer last out in a narrow second place beat. King Regert (#3) takes a stiff drop and wasn’t far off in a state-bred allowance. Mr. Colossal (#4) can go the distance and gets his tag slashed in half, a promising sign of things to come.

Race 8 selections:6-3-4

I won’t see you tomorrow but hopefully for a special Friday card! First post 12:30 pm. See you then for more Presque Isle Downs racing?
