Well, the weather outside is getting colder, but it shouldn’t stop the hot-blooded action at Presque Isle Downs this week! Let’s take a look at the Tuesday card.

RACE 1 – 6 ½ furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 3:30 p.m
Ransom Money (#3) has found his stride in recent starts with back-to-back runner-up finishes sprinting, which should behoove him in this short field. Valid Sense (#1) finished third but only by ¾ of a length behind Ransom Money last time out, which indicates this race is going to be close.

RACE 2 – 6 ½ furlongs, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 3:57
Turf Cat (#4) was only a half-length off the win in thirdIt’s clear from the race records that Shy Da Runner (#6) and Martina Rojas work well together, running second each time they’ve teamed up. Showdown King (#3) took on a tough field last out and I think he should look classy here.

RACE 3 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $25,000 Post Time: 4:24
Fiction (#4) takes a second look at tapeta in a lower class, only running on it once at Woodbine. Ryu Mo (#6) comes off some Colonial Downs turf efforts and should flex some higher class here. Yes I’m Jess (#5) is 5-for-8 in the money at this distance and should be sharp facing this shorter field, especially coming off a win.

RACE 4 – 6 furlongs, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 4:51
Hadid (#1) finished 5th in her first start but was only two-and-a-half back on the Colonial Downs turf, and comes off some decent Fair Hills works as well. Kissed You Anyway (#4) has been outclassed on turf in the Midwest circuit, another promising selection here. I wonder what the oddsmakers know that I don’t about Vicky (#3), a Vekoma daughter making her first start. His progeny start fast and this horse is one I wouldn’t leave off tickets.

RACE 5 – 6 ½ furlongs, Allowance Optional Claiming Post Time: 5:18
The Minkster (#1) drops to this level and I think he can show enough class to outmuscle Calvin’s Ride (#3) here. I still pencil the #3 for second here, considering he’s run top two over the Erie tapeta in 9 of his 10 starts. I can’t ignore Curly Larry And Mo (#5) at 10-1 is a price I can’t ignore, coming from the tough Kentucky circuit and the only real question for him is the distance.

RACE 6 – 1 mile 70 yards, Starter Optional Claiming Post Time: 5:45
Even with the class raise I don’t see anyone stopping Little Martha (#2) in the midst of a four-race win streak. Keeping with a theme, the shipper from Colonial Spotty Shower (#3) looks interesting at the 8-1 line, interesting enough to slot into second. I’m interested to see if Israel Rodriguez unlocks something in Haut Les Cours (#6) after having been ridden by Victor Severino.

RACE 7 – 6 furlongs, Allowance Optional Claiming, Post Time: 6:12
When I see Time For An Angel (#5) at 8-1, I know I’m running every wager through her. While this is a bit of a class raise, it isn’t anything she can’t handle with her track record going this distance. However, Wherever We Are (#6) makes for a promising selection off back-to-back wins and training times to match. Zo Lee (#1) comes in from Woodbine and has two second-place finishes in two starts at PID.

RACE 8 – 1 1/16th miles, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 6:39
If Speaker’s Lobby (#3) runs back to his last race’s speed figure, it’s going to be hard for this field to catch him without a standout surprise effort. Grab The Spark (#2) drops in tag after facing winners for the first time, and should find this level more suitable. Race For Cover (#1) is likely to hit the board here after coming out of a tough race where the top two ran back in the money.
