Night Ride (#2) made his first start in a year, so I can forgive him for looking flat-footed for his first run against competition. He’s On The Fly (#6) has shown remarkable consistency in his starts this year and I look for him to show up big again. Wrote In Stone (#4) faced a couple horses I was high on, Showdown King and Thalberg, so I’ll slot him into third.

RACE 2 – 1 mile, Maiden Claiming $7,500 Post Time: 3:57
If Lazy Y Legacy (#2) runs to her only tapeta start at Turfway, she’ll win with ease here. Caparbia (#5) turned a corner in her last start and it would be an encouraging sign to see her run well again here. Fur Elise (#1) didn’t get the best start for her new campaign in Ron Potts barn but she could turn that around today in her second start off the layoff.

RACE 3 – 1 mile, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 4:24
Hide N Watch (#4) is a Golden Pal colt that clearly took to the tapeta with a 5 furlong work in 59.3 seconds. He was second going this distance on turf two starts back. Grande Dunes (#2) comes off a late-charging second place effort on debut and has the potential to stretch out well, as indicted by his siblings who, for the most part, ran well in route races. Matowy (#6) gets Gaddiel Martinez aboard, and in this short field that has to count for something.

RACE 4 – 6 ½ furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 4:51
Silent Diva (#3) is back and she’s been consistent, running 4th and 1st twice across her last four starts. Courageous Ari (#1) ran into the hot Triple Secret last time out, so she should flex some class here. No Tappin Out (#5) makes the drop in tag and will be a horse I want to keep an eye on, getting Taylor Kingsley up.

RACE 5 – 5 ½ furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 5:18
Kelly’s Into Luck (#2) comes to the Erie tapeta where multiple siblings have seen success, including King Riegert who just ran a couple weeks ago. Sweet Carol James (#8) moved a bit too high up in class and she makes the move back down to a more comfortable level. She’s Lit (#4) should be dangerous here with leading rider Gaddiel Martinez and leading conditioner Russel Randall teaming up yet again.
Race 5 selections:2-8-4
RACE 6 – 1 mile 70 yards, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 5:45
Gun Policy (#3) faces similar company he’s run ahead of before, and that makes him a likely candidate to win. Marinara Sauced (#9) showed some strength in this class last time out and should be coming late like he did last time. Maybern (#2) makes his second start off the layoff with a win under his belt already, and he’ll be on the lead with a similar trip to last time.

RACE 7 – 1 mile 70 yards, Allowance Post Time: 6:12
Classic Nofty (#1) has a lot of things going for him, including a sharp last work, a drop from stakes company and a maiden-breaking win over the surface. However he faces the tough Triple Start (#2) to his outside who hasn’t run worse than second in all six of his starts this meet. Diver (#7) has to overcome the wide draw, but has a top-two streak to rival the #2, running well in 9 starts dating back to July of last year.

RACE 8 – 1 mile 70 yards, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 6:39
Hard Mission (#4) drops in class and has hit the board in 6 of his 9 tries going the distance. Driftwood (#3) is worth the mention for second, running well last time out and staying sharp on the work tab. Frosty The Soldier (#1) moved up in class last time and didn’t fare well, so this class should suit him better.
