Pressing on into the Wednesday card, we see the thinner fields as a product of racing four days a week from now till the meet’s end. Let’s see what we can do with the Wednesday card.

RACE 1 – 6 furlongs, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 3:30 p.m
Back The Crick (#4) looks poised to break her maiden in this short field after a runner-up effort. I wonder what Voodoo (#1) could do with a track that wasn’t biased. All of her starts have come on speed-favoring tracks, which she’s shown a dislike for.

RACE 2 – 6 furlongs, Maiden Claiming $7,500 Post Time: 3:57
How many more times can Alabama Sleeper (#3) finish second before finally breaking through for her first win? Toque (#5) has the most potential to play spoiler but must make the transition to tapeta for the first time. King Of The Isles (IRE) (#2) also ships in from Colonial Downs to make an attempt at the tapeta, showing more class than some others here.

RACE 3 – 6 furlongs, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 4:24
Musket Magic (#4) looks the part after switching to the Scooter Davis barn and he’s hot with a horse in their second start off the layoff, sporting a $3.10 ROI. Sticktotheplanman (#6) ran behind the #4 and I’d expect him to be chasing Musket Magic’s tail once again. I’ll slot Center (#3) into third, with unknown potential being brought by H. Graham Motion’s trainee to this spot.

RACE 4 – 5 ½ furlongs, Starter Optional Claiming Post Time: 4:51
It might be time Fadethenoise (#4) return to the winners circle for first time since June. Since that win he’s finished runner-up three times. Call Me Later (#1) looks dangerous coming off back-to-back wins and promises to pose a challenge in the stretch, especially considering the drop from allowance company. Straightouttadutton (#3) has hit the board consistently in these sprint races and I don’t see why he wouldn’t flex some strength today.

RACE 5 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $12,500 Post Time: 5:18
Boujie Betz (#6) seems the most likely to win, given her experience at this level compared to her contemporaries here. She was beaten by a nice horse known as Knicks Factor last time out. Tworly Bluebell (#5) is a horse I have high hopes for in the future but she’s still adjusting to facing winners, so I’ll pencil her in second. Oh Sheila (#3) gets much-needed class relief in this spot and should show marked improvement.
Race 5 selections:6-5-3
RACE 6 – 6 furlongs, Allowance Optional Claiming Post Time: 5:45
Rock N Reward (#1) stayed strong with Taylor Kingsley aboard for the first time and I expect another strong effort here. Little Lamb Chop (#4) hasn’t missed the board in quite a while, and I don’t see that streak ending here. Casa Juanita (#2) makes the drop in class from a Colonial Downs handicap, indicating this spot as some class relief.

RACE 7 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 6:12
Twist N Twirl (#7) has the consistent, high speed figures in this group that indicate he might be ready to win this one. Denali Lightning (#6) is a price I’m willing to hedge on with the surface change. So Grand (#3) earned a career-high speed figure last time out, so I’ll slot him into third.

RACE 8 – 1 mile 70 yards, Claiming $12,500 Post Time: 6:39
Yoheda Money Maker (#2) returns from a trip up to Finger Lakes where the dirt did not agree with him, and he’s never missed the board in 8 tries at this distance. Duck Hunter (#3) runs back off a second-place effort and drops from allowance company. On the one hand, Michael Pappada has a good track record with horses off layoffs, but a low win rate with horses making their first start with him. I’ll slot in Keen Surge (#4) for third based on this.
