Race 6: #5 Park’s Place (3-1)
I really like #5 Park’s Place (3-1) in today’s sixth race as the other two main contenders are difficult for me to endorse. #2 Town’s Warrior (5/2) is 0 for 9 and his best race by far is on the turf. #7 Kid Marvelous (4-1) is another who has had his chances at 0 for 7 and has lost to Town’s Warrior a few times. Unless one of the firsters can really run, this race seems like Park’s Place’s race to lose, especially if he can get back to those big synthetic figures he earned last winter. He enters with good form after finishing a solid second last time out at Colonial against a tougher bunch. He was close to a sizzling pace throughout after getting shuffled down the backside, made the first move into the fast pace, cleared the field, and just got a bit tired late in a race where the 1-3-4-5 finishers all came from the back. I love that he’s adaptable to any pace scenario and I think 3-1 would be tremendous value on this guy as around 3/2 seems like a fair price.
Race 10: #7 Red Line Overdrive (10-1)
I was all over #7 Red Line Overdrive (10-1) last time at a big number last time and I want to give him another shot today. He was far from disgraced when finishing third at this level where he was 5-wide every step of the way and still battled gamely to the wire. The form of that race was flattered when the winner returned to win a stakes race at Fort Erie. He moves closer to the inside today yet drew outside the main speed rivals today, so he should get a good stalking trip. He’s a fit on speed figures against this group and I love the fact that he’s got one of the best kicks in the race, in addition to having more tactical speed than those rivals. 10-1 is a fair price for this runner to close out the weekend!
