Friday card went well for me, but a couple narrow beats were costly. Unfortunately today I do NOT like the early card, being on one of the bigger race days early on of the meet it is somewhat of a disappointment. Races 2,3,4 appear very tough. I found the entire card to be difficult which led me leaning toward some prices without much confidence.
Today feels more like gambling than horse playing.
TURF OR TAPETA – Temps are not very warm so not sure how quickly the turf will dry out. I am going to make an educated guess that at least Race 2 Saturday comes off the Turf, but I do not have any inside information here.
Race 1 – Maidens going 7 Furlongs on the Dirt unfortunately a few in here I have no information on.
A – 6 Bonus Move took money on debut and backed it up. Doing everything right except crossing the wire first, overtaken late then galloped back by the winner. Henning is only 8% with this type, but he also rarely has one run like this one on first asking.
A – 8 Born Noble is 1 of 2 in for Pletcher who is 25% in this spot. I watched work on both Pletcher runners no question this is the one we want here, not to mention Irad is here and not on the repole owned runner. Likely one to add to a watch list regardless of todays out come. Nearly made a lap in the work I watched and did it easy.
I am good with the A’s here. Especially when you factor in a difficult Race 2 and Race 3 in this sequence
B ‘s – 2,3,4
Race 2 MD35 – Handicapped for Tapeta …….. Looks like a dart throwing contest. If you are lucky enough to come up with a strong opinion here good luck
A – 1 Rapscallion for Fawkes who is 22% with this type. The comments on last are a bit exaggerated in my opinion, was not the best of trips.
A – 7 K Crown first time starter for Weaver
A – 10 My Life Story was in for a tag upon debut racing 3/4 wide throughout. Plodded along same pace in stretch on left lead, Did Zayas get off for the 11?
B – 5 Old Flag was claimed out of his sprint debut now will try a route of ground.
B – 6 He’s a commisioner has the most experience of the group, dropping for a tag and trying the tapeta.
B – 8 Jabran also drops in for a tag while trying the tapeta for the 1st time.
B – 11 Go Go Ge will try to make his first start again after being a vet scratch Dec 10th
Race 3 –
A – 1 Make Em Tap fits with the group, IF the 3 does not find his previous form
A – 3 I am the Game is one I want to single that I know I should not…… Not raced since May, Was a Vet Scratch in June. Now comes back off the break in for 8K… Lot of red flags, but holds the best races at this distance and surface
A – 5 Variable Cost adds Blinkers for Sisterson, drops 1/2 of claiming price but I question the distance. Lets go Osin for the W
A – 6 Ensign Skip fits here and has proved he can plod along at the 9 furlongs
B – 7 , 8
Race 4 – Turf or Tapeta UGH – If this one was to stay on the grass, I do not have a top pick.
A – 5 Marksman Queen would make the A list here on either surface
A – 6 Olympic Prank will be my top pick on the tapeta, but I will use her as an A on either surface. Nearly an eleven month layoff, couple works I watched looks ready to go.
A – 8 Swoop to finish for Mott has some significant back class compared to others in here.
Race 5 I will just lean toward the 2 obvious favorites
A – 3 Maryquitecontrary will be looking to get back to form for new barn, Training well and she most definitely has home track advantage being 6 for 8 over GP Dirt.
A – 6 Nostalgic I have been a fan of for awhile although she has disappointed a few times.
Brief thoughts on other races, nothing solid the entire day. I thought the entire card was extremely difficult.
Race 6 – A – 7 ,8 ,11
Lone B and Price horse I like is 12 Burning Man if had drew inside would be my top selection here.
Race 7 –
A – 4 Cruzin Man The inside speed
B – 8 Famous Gent The closer who only has to pass 7 others today.
Race 8
A – 6 Accomplished Girl I have been a fan off since her debut followed by some pre-race antics scratch. Super talented filly, distance is the question.
A – 5 Tequilera 30-1 ML ? has hit the board 11 of 15 starts. Has ran well attending fast paces in solid races. I am not big on take a shot on bombs but I might here.
Race 9 is the most competitive tapeta Route I have seen at Gulfstream in memory. VERY TOUGH
I will take a shot here 6 Skyro

A – 6 O Conner
A – 9 Gasoline
A – 10 Steal Sunshine will have a tough task in a race with not a ton of pace, but the mile and 1/16 may be perfect.
B – Grand Aspen
B – Miles D
Race 11
A – 9 Running Bee could deservingly be the shortest price of the day.
B – 3 Jerry the Nipper
C – 5 Kingman
C – 7 Stone Age
