Late Pick 5 Sequence
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion. To be more judicious with our bankroll in 2026, I will be taking a more targeted approach in Pick 5 selections and include some win bets and doubles when the opportunities arise.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2
#7 Ship Serve drops in class for his sophomore attempt for trainer Michael Maker. On debut he flashed good speed away from the gate before tiring in the lane. #1 Zephyros is a first-time starter for trainer Mark Casse, whose barn continues to do well this meet; jockey Javier Castellano will be in the saddle. #4 Finding Candy has been competitive in his first two attempts and today gets Lasix for the first time. #2 Jubilee Parade is a well-bred colt that will be making his second career start for trainer Bill Mott. The debut effort was not a victory, but he ran well enough and should improve.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 1 – 2
#1 Only in America and #2 Statesman are very logical contenders as they are both running for strong connections and have the foundational races from their three-year-old campaigns that should give them the edge versus the competition.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 5 – 8
#6 Lights of Broadway has been very popular at the claiming box lately and now moves to the barn of Nicholas Tomlinson; jockey Tyler Gaffalione will be in the irons. #5 Fly the W, the wily ten-year-old veteran also moves barns after being claimed and returns to Gulfstream Park, new trainer Amador Sanchez does well first off the claim. #8 Corta Fuego does his best running late and should have an opportunity with all the early speed signed on in today’s ninth.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 9
# 9 Nic’s Style will be our single in the sequence based on her consistency and versatility; jockey John Velazquez picks up the mount.
Race 11 SELECTIONS: 5 – 2
#5 Self Loader drops in class for strong connections and gets Lasix for the first time, he has shown his ability to run well in spots and should improve in his third career start. #2 Witcha Wish has never raced on the grass but he has a running style that looks as if it should translate well onto the lawn.
Today’s pick 5 ticket $.50 base (post scratches) : 1,2,4,7 / 1,3 / 5,6,8/ 9 / 2,5 cost: $24
