I will be covering the Early Pick 5 in detail, and quick thoughts on rest of card.
You can find John Pinder’s work on the late Pick 5 under the Gulfstream Park menu as well here at Inthemoneypodcast.com
Far behind on work today … Early Pick 5 post scratches.
Unfortunately I am still working on the rest of this card… If any spot plays today they will be up by FIRST post along with Tapeta Pick 3!
Will be OFF the TURF!! So turf races will be the last things I write up and most races will be brief due to time.
Reminder to pay attention to late scratches which happens a lot when races come off the grass.
Early Pick 5
R1 – 2 3 5 7 9
R2 – 5 9 11
R3 – 4 This is not a confident opinion
R4 – 4 10 ( Can make a case to single the 10)
R5 – 4 5 6 9 12
Tapeta Pick 3 I am going to take a shot in a tough sequence but with these races coming off the grass look to be bit volatile
R6 – 9
R7 – 4 5
R8 – 1 3 4 5 7 8 9 11 14 ( only missing 2 runners here so ALL)
Race 1 OFF TURF!! I am going to use several in here with many trying something new and a few hidden lines. Could make a case to single my top selection here but also think there is an excellent opportunity to catch a price horse.
A LINE
2 Smiling Ellie is coming off an extended break and routing on the tapeta for the first time. Has 2 solid recent works over the surface going easily with nice gallop outs on both works.
3 Ro Town gets back to an easier level after shipping north taking on stakes horses. She rattled off 4 wins in a row here at Gulfstream last year.
5 Bravo Kitten should go off favored in my opinion. Goes out second off the bench for Saffie with Tyler up. The lone tapeta race going this distance was fast in an oddly run race. Field was strung out with a rabbit and this mare got to far back and was left too much to do late. Could make a case to take a shot singling this one if you wanted to play an economical ticket or spread elsewhere.
7 World Traveler tries the tapeta for the first time and the Dec 7th work over the tapeta is one I was unable to watch for myself but clocker report is very high on that work.
9 Ms. Tart is routing over the tapeta for the first time but will be a shorter price with Irad
B LINE
6 10 11 – I think are a step below the A’s but all 3 are consistent runners that have showed form over the tapeta.
Race 2
A LINE
5 Lookin for Roses has not made the races since April of 2023 when finishing second to an eventual stakes winner. This long layoff and dropping to this level screams caution but is a must use.
9 High Prince will be my top selection here after breaking from the rail last time and dropping too far back made a nice long sustained rally while negotiating traffic along the way. The question for me is did Irad/Agent chose to get on the 1 horse here? No clue…
11 First Shot Fired is one I did not like last time but ran very well getting a great ride from David Egan and arguably is the horse to beat off that last effort.
B LINE
1 Fortheloveofart back to the did Irad chose to ride here? I did not like the effort over this surface on Nov. 17th and the only reason this horse is making my B Line is the presence of Irad.
3 De La Calles ran well Nov 10 being hung wide the entirety of the race versus slightly tougher. Would make my A Line if not for being a VET SCR Dec 1st then ran poorly on the dirt last time.
7 Egyptian Quest ran well last time but ultimately had no excuse that day and could make the case to put in my A Line.
12 My Victory Song could be huge price in here and need to see more of this one before totally dismissing.
Others to Mention
4 Castleharrison for a barn that is ice cold…. but has only the 1 start
8 Cryptonym I think could hit the board if playing vertical would use in 3rd.
10 Air Force Royalty is another I would use underneath.
Race 3 is one of the most interesting races on the card from a talent standpoint and I came to the conclusion I just needed to pick 1!
Forced a LONE A – 4 Alexander Helios although coming off a May layoff is where I am landing here. This field is tough to separate and I think this one will most definitely be forwardly placed. I gave this one the slightest of edges by my figures.
B LINE nothing clever – 1 2 3 5 If had to pick 1B to use on my tickets it would be the 5 Society Man
Race 4 has several trying something for the first time that I would like to have on tickets but will put those on the B Line here.
A LINE
4 Decisive Pride is tough to include on the A Line after breaking his maiden in start number 24 at 46-1!! now facing winner for the first time. Although has only sprinting on the tapeta twice having no excuse Nov 23rd but the last although was a great trip showed good early speed and was in tight on the rail finishing late like he was suppose to win that race!
10 Ours for Sure I have on top and as the horse to beat. 6-1 I do not think is happening here but with the betting of connections at Gulfstream anything is possible. This colt has been consistent in 8 tapeta sprints with his best coming at this 5 furlong distance. Is tactical enough to be close with the only concern for me being could get hung wide.
Others
2 Summer Bee tries the tapeta for the first time.
3 Guldenstern sprints over the tapeta for the first time. Oddly this horse only shows 5 official works after being in the US since at least early June.
6 Mohay Please will sprint over the tapeta for the first time.
7 Alpha Blue ?? only mentioned because of the morning line… I do not like this one trying winners for the first time coming out of some pedestrian like races.
Race 5 I am on the favorite with Irad so nothing exciting
(SCRATCHED) 10 Now Showing has ran consistent sprinting over the tapeta and ran her best race to date last time with failing to catch Amor Y Control at the wire (Finished 1st for the 5th time in a row Friday). There is a barn change here with the claim from Saffie which I am not a fan off but Irad sticking around is a good sign.
Completely changes this race for me.
B LINE – NOW THE A LINE!!
4 Whiteknckle has enough speed to be more forward than she was last time when she got hung wide and checked early turn.
5 Trevess is dropping in versus much easier today after stringing together a nice racing career once moving to the tapeta.
6 Noble Dreamer would be the most interesting of this B line group. Outpaced last and made a nice sustained run getting up into 3rd.
9 Cloe’s Toy has speed and back races that are good enough if she get back to form.
12 Founder’s Day becomes a late add here now due to the scratch of the 10
R6 – 9 Boppy O has the proven route form and will try to beat the other Casse runner that is going to take money.
I will take a look at the doubles here using the 2 Casse Runners into Wistucky.
R7 – 1 Wistucky looks to have caught the right field today.
R8 – I am taking a shot using the 4 5 in the tapeta pick 3 but there are others that would not surprise.
R9 – I am using the 1 3 7 nothing clever for me.
R10 – Nothing clever for me Using Several due to time just numbers here
A – 6 9 10
B – 1 4 7
R11 – I am all over the place here… I am using many as I can get on my tickets
1 3 4 5 7 8 9 11 14 That only leaves 2 so ALL
If I had to pick just 1 … 5 Spirit of the Law
