AQUEDUCT – 12/3/21

RACE 1: 1-5-7-2

The brief time away should help #1 INVESTMENT INCOME, a talented daughter of Candy Ride who was smack dab in the middle of a tough field last time out.  She draws favorably on the rail today and should save ground from the start.  There’s a reasonable chance she’ll be forwardly placed as well given the pace scenario in here.

RACE 2: 1-6-2-5

The debut effort of #1 AMBASSADOR KELLY was promising given that she broke poorly then made a decent late run to round out the trifecta.  Trainer Todd Pletcher has a solid strike rate of 28% with 2nd time starting 2YOs in MSW dirt routes around these parts and the added ground will help this filly.  She meets a field that also lacks a standout and the winner of her debut came back to crush a field on Thursday afternoon.

RACE 3: 2-3-5-6

#2 PURE PANIC was dull last time out after breaking poorly and lingering behind the field for much of the first half-mile.  He should improve with a cleaner break and figures to be a square price given the regression in his last start.  Look for him to stalk and pounce from the inside.

RACE 4: 6-1/1A-3-4

#6 AUNT NAUGHTY returns off a lengthy layoff here for trainer Shug McGaughey and gets Lasix for the first time.  She debuted in a tough MSW field at Belmont 14 months ago, as the winner was presumptive 2021 Eclipse Award Malathaat and stakes winner Caramel Swirl was second.  This filly had speed that day and is a major player here.

RACE 5: 10-7-4-1

The Pick 6 kicks off with a double carryover and #10 PERHAPS TONIGHT looks to be a likely winner and heavy favorite.  She was a game 2nd last time out against similar foes and now gets blinkers, which should sharpen her a bit early.  The rail was the place to be in her last start and this filly never got a break racing 3-4 wide on both turns.

RACE 6: 3-4-2-5

#3 HOLY BERRIES debuted in a productive race at Laurel from which the 3rd place finisher scored two straight wins, including a stake.  There was another also-ran who came up to NY and finished in the money in a MSW event.  This daughter of Holy Boss debuted at Laurel because she is a Maryland-bred, and she likely benefited from getting the experience.

RACE 7: 5-7-4-1

The likeliest upsetter of #7 GOLD PANDA is #5 WINNERS LAUGH, who is returning off a layoff after facing much tougher here on Memorial Day.  This son of Broken Vow showed speed and faded badly late when last seen and can now stalk and pounce on the cutback in distance.  He also hails from a barn that has done well with fresh horses over the years.

RACE 8: 8-5-2-1

#8 CREA’S BKLYN LAW drops back down in class and will be a serious late player here for trainer Mike Miceli.  This son of Sky Mesa was pace compromised in his last start and wound up racing along the inside much of the way. That wasn’t the place to be, so he deserves extra consideration here as a live price horse.

RACE 9: 2-7-12-4

You can go many different directions in this affair, but #2 SUMMER TO REMEMBER seems to be the most trustworthy runner in the field.  He is taking an enormous drop in class in his 4th start off a claim and should be in a good spot from the start.  There’s plenty of speed signed up in here, so having Joel Rosario aboard is a major positive.

RACE 9: 4-1-3-6

The pace will not be there for #4 MASTEROF THE TUNES, but she is so interesting in here given what happened in her last start.  It came here just 6 days ago, and she got into serious traffic trouble on the first turn, steadying and losing position.  She worked her way into contention before jockey Javier Castellano took her in hand late amidst her rallying widest of all.  She cuts back in distance and can be a late threat, especially if the pace materializes.

AQUEDUCT FALL STATS: 114-28-18-11       $236.70
