AQUEDUCT ANALYSIS – 02/01/2025
RACE 1: 1-3-5
#1 NINA KAY is the one to beat off a narrow miss last time out against similar competition here at the Big A. The winner of that race wired the field and this gal chased her home as the 4/5 favorite. She has tactical speed and should be within range from the outset against a weaker field than the one she faced last time out.
RACE 2: 4-3-1-5
#4 ISLAND CHARLIE is one of the most interesting horses on a chalky card given that he’ll be a square price and possesses a major pace edge today. He was a good third on debut when he chased a hot pace before weakening late in his debut. The addition of Lasix will only help his chances, and he should be well clear early.
RACE 3: 1-5-4
The pace in here looks to come from #1 WIN N YOUR IN who exits a series of stakes tris since breaking her maiden last July at Gulfstream. She is quick off the mark and adds blinkers today to keep her on edge early. If she is able to get clear they’ll have a very hard time running her down late.
RACE 4: 2-3-1-4
The layoff is the only real concern for #2 FLAG WOMAN, who out-classes this field by a mile. She has enough speed to be involved early and should be a tough customer based on the back class that is readily apparent. If she is able to get clear in the opening stages she’ll be very tough to beat.
RACE 5: 2-5-3-1
#2 AH CA IRA was wide much of the way last time out and the rail was the best place to be on that card. She is a late runner who needs to be used a bit more early to stay within range, so the jockey switch should help today. The experienced runners in here inspire no confidence, so give this gal a try at a price.
RACE 6: 4-5-1-6
#4 COASTAL MISSION fires every time and should be a late threat today. He was a good 4th last time out in the Cigar Mile behind legitimate Grade I caliber horses and faces weaker today. There should be enough pace to set up his late run and 7 panels is the ideal distance for this West Virginia-bred.
RACE 7: 7-5-6-4
#7 OMAHA OMAHA is a late-running Virginia bred who’s bidding for stakes glory after a good runner-up effort in last month’s Jerome. He should be on the move late today at a square price as there is enough pace to set up his late bid. He is improving with each start, which is encouraging, and the distance should be in his favor.
RACE 8: 4-1-2-6
#4 GOLDEN DEGREE is the one to beat cutting back in distance off a break for trainer Linda Rice. When last seen, this daughter of Goldencents was a good second behind graded stake winner Julia Shining and that is a class factor that matters. Her tactical speed will be useful in this spot and should keep
RACE 9: 4-8-3-2
#4 HELIUM is the one to catch for trainer Jamie Ness as he makes his third start off a layoff. There’s precious little speed in this affair and that’ll keep him in the mix throughout. He ran an improved race last time out and is ideally suited to the 9 furlong trip this afternoon. Look for an aggressive ride from the visiting Mychal Sanchez.
