AQUEDUCT ANALYSIS – 02/08/2025
RACE 1: 1A-3-6-5
#1A FOREVER TO GO is the most experienced runner in this field and should get a good trip stalking the pace on the outside. She gets Lasix for the first time today in her 3YO debut and improved by leaps and bounds when second last time out. The filly who beat her will compete in the East View later on today.
RACE 2: 2-5-1
The sky’s the limit for #2 SAND DEVIL, who has shown tremendous ability in two prior starts for trainer Linda Rice. He has had nary a straw in his path in either of those two victories, and should be able to control the pace again here. There’s no other speed signed on and the 7 furlong distance should be ideal.
RACE 3: 1-4-2
#1 NAÏVE MELODY won on debut for trainer Wesley Ward and now gets the visiting Kent Desormeaux in her stakes debut. She has a great deal of speed and draws the inside, a spot from which she’ll have to be involved early. If she moves forward even fractionally, she’ll be tough to beat at a short price.
RACE 4: 1-2-8-5
#1 MESSI THE MAGICIAN is interesting given the wide trip he endured last time out in a tougher NY bred N1X event. He rounded out a nice return to his prior lifetime top on his thorograph sheet and should be a square price today. Those are exactly the kind of horses that end up being good bets.
RACE 5: 6-5-9-7
#6 SWAY THE JURY is a second timer who should improve with experience. He endured a wide trip on debut while chasing the pace and speed was unbeatable on that afternoon. The barn he hails from is generally better with more experienced horses, and progeny of Vekoma continue to soar in his first crop.
RACE 6: 4-2-8-11
The barn switch for #4 FORMAGGIO is formidable, and she’s shown some ability in four prior starts. The best of them came two back when 2nd at Keeneland against open MSW runners. She showed good tactical speed that day, which would be a serious weapon for her this afternoon. Expect jockey Luis Rivera, Jr. to get her out to mix it up in the opening stages.
RACE 7: 4-6-9-3
When trainer Linda Rice reached in and took #4 LA BANQUERA for 25k, she likely envisioned that she could get her back to a NY bred N1X event. Two starts later, that’s exactly where she is and she showed a great deal more speed last time out than she had in recent tries. This field has no chance if this gal runs her last race and she has upside given this is just her 2nd outing with Lasix.
RACE 8: 11-7-5-4
Even though there are two stakes earlier on the card, this is the best race on the card where #11 TREATY OBLIGATIONlooks to get career win #4. He was a fast-closing 3rd last time out beaten just a neck at 9/2. His price should be comparable today given the competitive nature of this field. There’s more than enough pace signed up to set up his late bid.
RACE 9: 7-1-12-5
#7 VEKINDA has had every chance in his last two, only to come up shy each time as the favorite. If he doesn’t win today, he might never do so without a class drop. He has plenty of speed, and it would behoove Manny Franco to get him to the lead early and never look back.
