BELMONT – 6/10/2021

RACE 1: 3-1-5

#3 OBSESSED is a likely heavy fave off a major class drop for Tom Morley and has an ideal running style for this affair.

RACE 2: 9-3-1-7

#9 GHOST GIANT drops in class off a claim by George Weaver and fits nicely here from a class perspective.  He should get an ideal trip from just off the pace and has long been at his best here at Belmont.

RACE 3: 6-5-4

#6 GERRYMANDER is by a hot young stallion and is debuting early for a barn that generally does not push its horses early to make the races.

RACE 4: 2-7-10

The issue that #2 SCREAMIN’ BY ran into last time out will exist again today with a dearth of early speed signed up in this event.  This filly rallied into a slow pace and nearly landed in the exacta, even with a great trip.  She can be dangerous here with a more aggressive ride and cleaner break from the gate.

RACE 5: 4-3-7

Trainer Wayne Potts has amassed a strike rate of nearly 20% off the claim in NY and #4 EAGLE PASS is in top form at the moment.  This gelding should be close to a moderate pace, ready to pounce when asked.

RACE 6: 4-10-3

#4 MALTHAEL is taking a massive class drop after facing much tougher in five tries since being claimed by Tom Morley.  This gelding is back where he belongs class-wise and looms a threat as one of the favorites.

RACE 7: 6-11-7

#6 LINNY KATE is strictly the one to beat off a poor performance on the dirt.  She showed increased speed that day and understandably tired late.  The distance should work to her advantage, and another aggressive ride will help her chances.

RACE 8: 5-2-1

#5 JALEN JOURNEY endured a brutal trip last time out when off the board at Oaklawn in his comeback from a trip to Dubai.  This Steve Asmussen trainee is now in an ideal spot drawn outside the other speed in a race that hardly lacks any standouts.

RACE 9: 10-9-5-2

#10 EIGHT WEEKS LONG is getting a massive upgrade at pilot after making a middle move and fading late last time out.  This is still the right spot class-wise and he’s deserving of another try with a better pilot.
