BELMONT AT THE BIG A ANALYSIS – 10/10/2024
RACE 1: 3-1-6-8
#3 THANK YOU JON is interesting off an improved effort against open claimers as he moves into a restricted spot. This son of Maclean’s Music has landed in a winnable spot and should have the tactical speed to stay within range from the outset. His price will be attractive as well as these connections rarely garner a great deal of support.
RACE 2: 4-6-2-1
The scratch of the heavy morning line favorite drastically alters this field and likely enables #4 IM JUST KIDDIN to be a serious player from start to finish. She was passively ridden last time out and that led to traffic issues. A more aggressive ride from a more aggressive rider will help her chances.
RACE 3: 2-6-5-4
#2 CALL HER BLUFF drops in class and faces a weak field with only one accomplished runner. This gal was on a nice winning streak before facing stakes company last time out and understandably found it too tough. She should be in a good spot stalking the pace for a trainer long overdue to get going at this meet.
RACE 4: 2-7-6-9
The form on #2 STREET READY is just dirtied up enough to make him interesting as he exits a dull effort on dirt. The race he ran two back was far better than it looks on paper as he was wide the entire trip on a day when saving ground on the inner turf was essential. He can rebound today back on his preferred surface and the 3-1 morning line would be great.
RACE 5: 2-9-4-3
#2 R FUNNY BIZNESS should end up close to favoritism here off a solid runner-up effort against similar. She made a serious late move in that race from off a slow pace and the tempo in here figures to be robust. If things heat up on the front end it’ll only help this daughter of Fed Biz who starts for a barn that’s suddenly winning again.
RACE 6: 2-9-6-4
#2 ROYAL KING has shown big speed in prior starts and can be a major threat from start to finish with a clean break from the gate. He was out slowly in his last dirt start and that wrecked his chances. The presence of Manny Franco today is encouraging, as is the lack of confirmed speed in this affair.
RACE 7: 2-6-8-1
#2 VENENCIA makes her second start off a layoff today after rallying nicely to snag the show dough last time out. She will get some pace to run at once again and this field is far softer from top to bottom than the one she exits. The inside post will enable her to save ground throughout and there’s enough talent in here to ensure a decent price.
RACE 8: 6-3-5-8
If #6 KYLA’S KAUSE can improve off a positive debut she is a major threat for top honors. Sent off at 4-1 in a competitive MSW on debut, she tracked a hot pace and stayed on well to the finish. The barn here does better with 2ndtimers and the price should be fair given the presence of two from the Christophe Clement barn.
