RACE 1: 2-7-9-3
#2 NEIGH BABY will improve at second asking for Jeremiah Englehart, as most of his trainees generally do so. This colt was 7/2 on debut against similar competition and chased the pace wide before checking in a distant third. Having more speed would make him a much bigger player today.
RACE 2: 1-10-3-8
The pedigree on #1 COACH RYAN is modest, but he is a son of Slumber, whose progeny have done well in a limited sample. The worktab from Monmouth makes him a stranger, but trainer Chad Brown has done well over the years with horses training on the Jersey Shore.
RACE 3: 6-5-4-3
#6 SHERIFF BIANCO has been knocking heads with much better for quite some time and is getting some needed class relief today. He hasn’t faced NY bred N2X runners in almost 3 years but should get a pace to run at here and will add blinkers. That will likely help him relax and make one run.
RACE 4: 2-1-5-6
#2 BONUS MOVE has been victimized by subpar trips in his last two and now gets a key jockey change. This colt has a great deal of speed, but has found himself deep in the pack in his last two outings. He was in behind a wall of horses in mid-stretch last time out while the race unfolded and can be a big player with a cleaner go of it this afternoon.
RACE 5: 3-8-5-7
The switch to dirt for #3 SCYTHIAN could be very interesting as she’s had only one prior opportunity on the main track. It came in her debut, and she wound up chasing home a handy wire-to-wire winner. The worktab coming into this spot is outstanding and she should be a square price in a tough field.
RACE 6: 1-3-6-7
The first out trip for #1 STRADALE was less than ideal, as this $1.3 million purchase by Yaupon was out of the gate poorly and deep in the pack. He should be improved in terms of the gate at second asking and trainer Steve Asmussen historically has been better 2nd time out. The rail is the only negative, but having an aggressive pilot is a good thing.
RACE 7: 1-5-3-4
The jump into stakes company for #1 FLAT OUT TIME is not an easy move to make, but she is improving for George Weaver. She sat just off a slow pace last time out before finishing strongly to win a N1X at Delaware and should get a great pace setup today. The price will be attractive as well, as she rates to be 10-1 or more.
RACE 8: 10-6-7-8
It has already been a strong week for Repole Stable and #10 GRITTINESS should improve this afternoon. He broke very poorly on debut and was last in a slow-paced race. He should improve out of the gate and will be a decent price in a race that has a number of horses training very well.
RACE 9: 2-4-3-5
#2 GIRLS ROCK should get a good trip from the inside today as she moves back to turf for trainer Whit Beckman. She was a game winner last time out from just off the pace and should be in position to stalk and pounce again. The recent rapid turf drill only adds to her appeal.
RACE 10: 8-4-3-7
The dry turf course will help #8 BELLEZZA more than her stablemate, #4 LA MEHANA. There was a chasm between the two at the finish last time out in the Glens Falls, but that likely had a lot to do with the boggy conditions. This daughter of Siyouni ran very well in her North American debut, which happened to be her only stateside try over a dry turf course.
RACE 11: 6-8-5-4
There’s an argument to be made that the Beyer figure on #6 SINA’s maiden win could be as much as 13 points higher. The three horses to run back have each improved their figs by double digits, with the average being 14 points. This filly was quick early in her debut in a race that yielded a next out stake winner and she can be a major player here if able to relax early.
RACE 12: 8-7-2-3
#8 VICTORY WAY has had a hard time getting through this condition, but now returns off a break following one of his better efforts to date. He should be in a good stalking spot from the outside and looks to be training nicely in the solitude of Belmont Park.
RACE 13: 6-5-11-12
#6 RAMBLIN’ WRECK got caught in traffic trouble in mid-stretch last time out and was taken in hand late. He is a one-run closer who’ll need things to heat up on the front end, and there should be more than enough pace in here. He will be a good price as well in a very competitive affair.
