Late Pick 5 sequence:
Race 5 SELECTIONS: 3 – 5
#3 Miss Ucrania attempted deeper waters her last time out and was outrun. Today she returns to a level where her speed figures are on par and she gets Lasix for the first time. The sometimes tricky distance of 7Furlongs should pair well with her desire to run fast late. #5 Tribute broke her maiden on debut last time out in a professional manner. Runs for a smaller barn in that of Henry Collazo but he seems to be picking his spots well.
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 8 – 7 – 5
#8 Olympic Runner returns to the races after a seven month layoff to a much lower class level for trainer Mark Casse. Although he was not successful in any of those attempts at the graded stakes level, he is an accomplished veteran with a versatile running style that makes him dangerous. #7 Therapist switches to a high percentage barn, that of Martin Drexler. He was claimed last time out after winning when he showed that he still has the ability to close aggressively. #5 Light Fury drops in class for new trainer Ronald Spatz. Jockey Jose Ortiz should be able to sit a good trip with this gelding and have something to say about the outcome.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 3 – 7
#3 Strong Quality is a well-bred colt sired by Quality Road. Making his four-year-old debut today he drops in class significantly for trainer Mark Casse. Has great speed and can sustain it over longer distances, today he runs at a mile. #7 Desert Ruler is a proven runner at this class level for this distance. Will face tough competition today and might be overlooked, but deserves consideration for the victory.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 8 – 7 – 1
#8 French Franc returns to a similar race condition as her last time out when she just got caught late, that race was off a layoff and ship up from Woodbine. #7 Boston Princess runs second off the layoff for trainer Rohan Crichton. Last time out closed into a hot pace and just missed the win, even with a troubled trip. #1 Demogorgon is a four-year old Bayern filly that is dropping in class and returning to the turf. She has good early speed and almost took them gate to wire on the turf at a higher level. If that tactic is employed it could work today as there is not a lot of early projected pace.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 1
#6 Sea Trident was beaten last time out by one of his main competitors in this spot. The variables today are a fast surface and a cut back in distance from 7Furlongs to 6. #1 Uncork the Bottle ran his top speed figure last time out although it was in the slop going 7Furlongs. That race was first off a layoff and he had top jockey Irad Ortiz aboard; today he runs at the same level and retains the services of the top jockey.
Let’s make it happen!!!
