On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Friday(March 10, 2023) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   4  –  6  –  8

#4 Lunar Rocket has been very consistent at this level and distance.  Today this gelded son of Munnings will be making his first start for new trainer Rohan Crichton; rider change to Irad Ortiz.  #6 Modazzle has been much better sprinting on the All-Weather and that’s where he will remain for today’s fifth race.  He won at this purse level and will step up to face non winners of two lifetime; rider change to Luis Saez.  #8 Roman Poet is a lot like many of us and needs a little forgiveness 🙂 – His last couple of races have been less than stellar but today he is returning from a layoff, getting a new rider, switching to the All-Weather and will be making his first start for the new barn. – But like many of us, if you look intently you can see there is some good there.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   1  –  3  –  6  –  8

#1 Gomomischief is a home bred first time starter sired by Into Mischief. Into Mischief’s offspring do well early on in their racing careers, and this one has been showing speed in her workouts.  #3 Spun Oats debuted last month and was professional.  She finished second in a mile race that was run on the All-Weather but was originally intended for the turf.  #6 Our Flag Flying finished close behind Spun Oats in her last race but was much closer to a very fast early pace; today will be her third race off the layoff.   #8 Yamile’s will be making her second start off the layoff.  Her last race was the same as Our Flag Flying and Spun Oats in which she took the lead in that race that had the unsustainable pace; if she is able to settle off the pace and it’s not as hot, we could see altogether different results.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   3  –  6  –  7

#3 Three Witches has never been off the board in her four previous races, and the last three have been at this level; today could be the day.  #6 Signal From Noise is also a very consistent runner.  She has very good pedigree and is trained by Chad Brown.  #7 Inventing drops in class as she also returns from a three month rest.  She has run some high level races and has always given a good account of her talent.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   2  –  3  –  10

#2 Dr Zempf makes his state side debut for the turf wizard trainer Chad Brown.  He has not been to the races for six months but we know that trainer Chad Brown can bring them back off a long layoff ready to go; also gets Lasix for the first time.  #3 Call Me Harry is a need the lead runner for trainer Michael Maker.  That running style can be both a gift and a curse; let’s see if we can’t get a present with good odds.  #10 First Empire will be making his second start off the layoff for trainer Mark Casse.  At this level last time he came up a little short, today he will be cutting back in distance from a mile to the 7Furlong distance.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   5  –  7

#5 Mateo fits at this level and will be coming off a good second place finish last time.  Making his third start for trainer Daniel Hurtak, who keeps the services of jockey Jose Ortiz.  #7 Red Hurricane ran a close second in a similar race last time out.  Today he will be making his first start for the new barn of trainer Antonio Sano; a rider change will bring aboard top jockey Irad Ortiz.

Let’s make it happen!!!
