On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Saturday (December 03, 2022) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 6 SELECTIONS:    7  –  6  –  5

#7 Harry’s Onthebeach runs for new trainer Antonio Sano after just missing at this level last time out, a similar effort going 5F vs 5.5F should have him in the mix.  #6 Villegas Swing has good early speed.  He broke his maiden last time out which was also the first time he ran on the All-Weather surface.  Faces winners for the first time but will continue to sprint on the tapeta.  #5 Major King is a likely winner that runs for solid connections.  He has been very consistent and steps up in class but has the numbers to compete.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   11  –  10  –  8

#11 Coleridge is making his second start off a long layoff for trainer Bill Mott.  Last time he started slow and came close against a tougher group. #10 On Thin Ice is also second off the layoff for trainer Mark Casse and has a versatile running style that makes him viable.   #8 News Break is a five-year-old son of American Pharoah that has been away for over a year.  Why return now? Trainer Michael Maker knows better than I do.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   5  – 7

#5 Sweet Side ran well on debut but was caught wide into the turn and was unable to get to the leaders; with a better trip he can be daring.  #7 Cajun Dream is a first-time starter for Michael Yates, a trainer that does well with debut runners.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   1  –  3

#1 Housed is a Ghostzapper colt that debuted on the turf and since has run one good and another not so good race, drops in class today.  #3 Nova Folha has never ran on the grass but in his first two outings he as shown tenacity and the ability to stretch out, running for top connections.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   3  –  4

#3 Impulsiveness ships in for trainer Todd Pletcher and drops significantly in class.  If he runs to his potential, the win is his for the taking.  #4 Due Vini had a busy campaign earlier this year at higher levels and was recently given a 3-month break, seems to do better on the turf.
