On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Saturday (December 10, 2022) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 6 SELECTION:  9

Selecting the potential winner in a maiden special weight of ten 2-year-olds going a route on the grass, many for the first time, is not an easy task.  In order to keep the ticket manageable let’s single #9 Hardy Choice.  This Hard Spun colt is dropping in class for trainer Brian Lynch and gets Leparoux in the saddle.  Last time out showed good speed early before fading; has had good works since, including one on the turf.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   1  –  6

Pace is usually not a dominating factor in a sprint race but that could be the case in this race.  #1 Golden Isle is the speed of the speed and is running first time out for owner trainer Daniel Hurtak.  #6 Adios Babe has shown the ability to press a moderate pace and have enough to finish strong.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   11  –  9

#11 Delight returns after a lackluster finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf last month, where she faced a very fast pace and was unable to sustain.  Today’s pace and caliber of runners should allow her to be very much a factor.  #9 Junipermarshmallow runs for trainer Todd Pletcher and St. Elias Stable, over the years that combination has fostered many good youngsters, this homebred is out of Quality Road.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:  9  –  6  –  8

#9 Race Craft is a closer that should get a good pace setup in this race, top jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. will be in the irons.  #6 Wicked Finn is a scrappy son of Wicked Strong that is always well positioned, runs for a small barn and will get the services of apprentice jockey Jamie Torres.  #8 Uncle Armando returns to the Tapeta and should get a good trip, will be running second off the layoff for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:  4  –  9  –  8

#4 Dazzling Truths is a versatile runner that moves back to the grass and will run second off the layoff.   #9 Performing Arts will be making his first start for strong connections, coming off a three-month rest.  #8 Cadet Corps has run primarily on the Tapeta but has the late close running style that could translate well on the turf.

Let’s make it happen!!!
