On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Thursday(March 09, 2023) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5 sequence:

Race 5 SELECTIONS:   1  –  3  –  5   –  9

#1 Cadet Corps returns to the turf and he is a much better closer on the grass than on the All-Weather; running second off the claim for trainer Cheryl Winebaugh.  #3 Jais’s Solitude steps up in class but won last time out for new trainer Brandon Walsh, this race will be second off the claim.  He has faced much tougher in the past and could return to last year’s form.  #5 My Man Flint is a hard trying runner for a small barn that will be a price on the board but is worth the include.  #9 Parkland has won his last two races at this level and should be a force once again today.

Race 6 SELECTIONS:   2  –  4

#2 Quincy Cafe is dropping down two levels to face a small group that doesn’t seem to possess his natural speed.  He should be considered a contender in this spot even with his less than stellar recent performances.  #4 Jrue Breeze is also dropping in class after not firing in his last race.  Has proven himself at this level two races back and should have an opportunity for the victory.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   3  –  4  –  8

#3 My Voodoo Doll is a first time starter for trainer Mark Casse; He is a son of Dialed In and his dam has produced a stakes winner from two starters.  #4 Get Khozy improves after every outing and could improve at the shorter distance.  #8 St Joe Harbor earned a lackluster speed figure on debut last time out but showed natural speed early, has the potential to improve.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   1  –  5

#1 Pachanga Loca continues to show good early speed in all her races, problem is that she does not maintain that speed for very long.  Today she drops in class and cuts back from 7Furlongs to 6.5Furlongs.  #5 Bletchley Girl broke her maiden last time out in a professional manner, she moves up in class but her last race was one that many of her competitors today have yet to run.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   8  –  9  –  11

#8 Veloce Bella was claimed last time out and will make her first start for the new barn of Saffie Joseph Jr.  She has shown good speed on the All-Weather and the surface change to turf along with the barn change could be factors to help her get over the hump.  #9 Fulminate has been very competitive in and around this level and today will get a rider change to Luis Saez.  #11 Musical Design won at a level similar to today’s and has been in good form since the layoff for trainer Wesley Ward.

Let’s make it happen!!!
