Saturday Jan 27th PEGASUS WORLD CUP DAY Early Pick 5 is tough but could be a huge payout… Headline News AGAIN ?

Please excuse typos I knows it Pegasus Day so it should be perfect.   Recently discovered the horsetourneys free contest for top 50 in points is tomorrow, did not have anything but Gulfstream in my plans and I am the slowest handicapper ever!!!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!    Enjoy the day and cash some tickets.

Race 1 is the first of a tough group of races
A – 1 Zipadoo has yet to run a bad turf route, although she does have a bit of hang in her.   Ran a big race at AQ Nov 12th but had no excuse that day with every chance to go by then her last she saved ground but had nothing for that group when they turned for home.   She came out of that race in good order with a solid work with Sun Bee who goes in the 3rd today.
A – 2 Big Brass Bed has not been seen since July and changes barns.   Another with solid turf routes, won her debut going away and the June 22nd race at Belmont.  When she angled out to make her run, had to change lanes once clear stumbled then took off making up a lot of ground that day, with a better trip she would been close.   She worked heads up with Sonic Speed on Jan. 7th who came out that work to give Walsh his only winner of the meet so far.
A – 3 Swoop to Finish only has caught the Firm turf going a route of ground 3 different times.   The Nov 12th effort, I thought she was slightly better than the 1 Zipadoo.  Before that she caught Good and Yielding turf courses.
A – 10 Typey only makes my A list due to Irad gets off Swoop to Finish who I like a lot in this spot.   If I take that out of the equation, Typey would drop to a B as her turf races are lacking, but she has not been seen since June so maybe she is much improved but is a defensive use.
A – 11 Euphima tries the turf for the first time.  I have not seen a turf work but has been working well over the tapeta with Reef Runner.   Getting Klesaris and Paco, I do not want to look back and get beat by this one.

B – 4 Rosie’s Alibi will take some money, she is a half to Roses For Debra and not gets to the turf for the first time.  I have seen no reason to get overly excited about her.
B – 7 Boston Rose I have no information other than the paper form here, will be interesting to see if she takes money here.   But I also use caution with that approach on big days like today.
B – 12 Stephanie’s Charm takes the blinkers off and gets back to Gulfstream where she did her best running.   Not sure what kinda trip she will get outside but she is tactical and has faced some tough fields.     She nearly upset Cairo Consort  a year ago but many moons have come and gone since that form.

Race 2 – YES everyone and their mother has heard about Victory Avenue at this point.    In the early Pick 5 people will spread here, I will look to narrow.
A – 4 Corporate Power could be the sneaky horse in here at a price, but he does come with a caution flag.   Big purchase price comes with expectation and he was living up to them this summer training well at Belmont.  Debut was originally scheduled on Nov. 17th at Aqueduct and he was a vet scratch.   I have no clue what happened so it may not mean a thing, just a note in my formulator.   Missed a few weeks went back to the work tab and shows up here.  I am not leaving him off my tickets.
A – 5 Victory Avenue has the buzz and I will not leave him off my tickets.  At the right price he is Win bet worthy here but I would want 8-1 or better and that is not happening.
A – 6 Rapid Grey for Casse who is 25% in this spot, Tyler is up which helps the cause and has experience.

B – 11 Tapakena I think will need a race, looked a bit short.   But the last work stood out to me, he broke a bit green 2B of mate easily went inside of mate while in hand.  Then he got a bit short on the out but did nothing wrong.
B – 12 Uncle Caesar for Riley Mott, I thought it was interesting that Junior is here and not on the 3.  Maybe nothing to that and I am overthinking it.

I am not using any of these but will share my thoughts briefly as I dig as deep as possible on these maiden races.
1 – Speak Easy looked decent in the works I watched but if I had to chose one of the Pletcher’s to use it would be the 3 who got the best of this one.
2 – Batten Down is a full sibling to Tacitus, I found zero videos, there is nothing on the DRF report.   Found nothing when ran a search in my old workout reports.   Junior not riding this one was a head scratcher as well.
3 – My True Colors outworked the 1 Speak Easy on Jan 20th.   That work and 2 others he was just a bit green wandering about a bit, just normal things colts do.
8 – Big City ran well on debut there is only reason not to use him here.  Saez went to the 5.
9 – Iron Tap for Saffie and Zayas is normally one I would have interest in.   I watched 3 different works and found nothing but negative.
10 – Unspoken Request has showed speed before tiring and catches a tough group going a tough distance.

Race 3 is where I am taking my stand in the sequence, I am leaving out several nice fillies and mares here.  But this is a tough sequence and you cannot spread in every race.
A – 4 Fast as Flight is 4 for 17 with some narrow defeats.  She has ran some big races here at Gulfstream and gets some big class relief here when you look at who she has faced.

B – 1 Sun Bee is super talented but gets compromised by her style frequently, she ran huge in her last and now goes 2nd off the bench.  She will be a price on this firm turf course and will need some luck here, but this filly can run.   She sure did not run like a 37-1 shot in her last.  If this filly is a huge price I will put a few dollars on her, there is a ton of pace here and she has the ability to pick them up.
B – 8 Howboutdemapples makes her second start for Saffie, after getting a perfect 1st run trip last out on the tapeta.   I expect her to move forward off that effort and should get a good trip here again.

Race 4 is interesting from a wagering standpoint and could have the shortest price favorite of the day.
A – 1 Beechnut Trophy ended up on the tapeta by accident last time and Saffie now chooses to leave her on the tapeta.   She got a good trip but did it easy, just sit at rail cut the corner in hand waited, when the rail open went thru easily drew 1 clear.   She will get tested today.
A – 5 Sand and Sea is the horse to beat, she has won her last two fairly easily and set a new track records in the last.  She is 5 for 17 winning on dirt, turf, and tapeta.  I would think they let her walk on the front here today but we think that all the time and then it happens again.
A – 7 Time Passage hold the keys to the race, Zayas is outside the favorite.   I think he will choose to go here and make Sand and Sea come get his filly.

B – 9 Una Chiquitita makes me proud I am typing and not trying to pronounce that.   She is 0 for 7 in the US and has not been seen since Nov.   Per Clocker Report she woke up on the tapeta, unfortunately there is no video to watch…. WHY ?????

Race 5 I found to be one of the more interesting races on the card and I am taking a shot here.
A – 3 Headline News I must have some money on, I made one of my biggest win wagers outside of contest play in my life on this one last out.   Has never faced anything close to this group, but if takes another step forward today I think he can compete here.   Yes I know I went to the wedding why go to the funeral, but I do think he is talented…..        If this one wins check the Pegasus leaderboard…….
A – 9 Stat lands in this spot that is full of speed which is not ideal, I think Zayas will win this game of chicken and try to run them off their feet.  Ran Extremely well last time after setting blazing fractions, when winner caught him he dug in and was coming back at wire.
A – 11 Ice Chocolat is the class of the field and I would not blame anyone who wanted to single this one.  Casse gets Irad to ride and there is no Casa Creed or Master of the Seas in here.   The obvious short price horse.

B – 4 Whisper Not is a bit interesting, super talented horse that recently went to Maker and now gets the type of turf he has exceled on in the past.  Obviously he has not showed to be same horse he was in 2021, but if anyone can find that Whisper Not it would be Maker.
B – 7 Public Sector I have to give a bit of respect to, he has not won in a long time but classy vet that has faced way tougher his whole career.
B – 13 Kuramata needs to get in the race, which is a good possibility as some are gonna back out when they see all this pace.   Shows up every time….
