CAUTION – Likely these races are coming off the grass, which does open up a bit of randomness sometimes. I do keep notes though when these races do come off of who scratches because they do not want the Tapeta. Sometimes can come in handy down the road.
Race 6 – 1 Mile on the Turf
1 (A) Make the Boys Wink ran very well in debut, sit back off a slow pace and had to wait off turn with no lane early. When clear at rail big turn of foot getting up into 3rd, 1-2 finishers were long gone at this point just flagged this one home from 16th then galloped well. Other that have run here have not been overly impressive to say the least.
2 (B) Le Beau first time for Clement but Zayas on who does not ride many for this barn.
3 (C) Typey had everything her way in last and almost got the job done when I thought she was finished at the 1/8 pole. Maybe she is let walk again today but think the water is a bit deeper here. Assuming its comes off the grass would move this one up to a B since she does have a race over the surface.
4 (B) Lady Beth debuts for Brown / Jose up , will take money.
5 (B) Alhaan is a must use of course with Pletcher / Saez. Shadwell home bred working with other unraced barn mates, found nothing to get overly excited about.
6 Wildhawk is the first starter of the meet for Albertrani and gets Rosario. Barn 1 for 9 in this scenario and 0 for 4 shipping to Gulfstream with this type in the last 5 years.
7 Elysian Field makes her second start in Casse Barn. Trip was not ideal in last but had no real excuse saved some ground ran home same pace and then made it worse bumping into another. Would have to make a big step forward.
8 Appear is suppose to do nothing here but with no information hard to rule out. Shows several good works time wise but no clue what she was asked to do in those. Workout report is a blank slate somehow.
Top Pick – 1 Make the Boys Wink
Race 9 1 Mile on the Turf
1 (B) La Goulu has showed talent prior to debut which she took money in and ran respectable. Since Arriving at Gulfstream continued to work well. Outworking older ShawdyShawdy mid Jan.
2 (C) Soviet Express had no excuse in debut other than that was not the race Pletcher wanted to debut in. She was entered going 9F(Uncle Mo out of a Tapit Mare) prior to debut and did not draw in off the AE. She ran well in her sprint try and will move forward here. But Saez goes to the 5. That is enough for me, but definitely one to consider.
3 Domo Arigatou
4 (A) Solicitation’s debut she pressed the pace early under a snug hold, off turn responded ok, then winner crowded her and she got in tight and was wrapped up on. Not sure Tyler had any horse that day, it was definitely trouble but she sit a good trip and if was loaded could have drew off. Clement is 14% in this scenario and will take money with Alpha Bella showing up on her PP from her debut.
5 (B) Nonna’s Tiramisu – Pletcher is only 9% in this scenario last 5 years and the current workout report has this one outworked by unraced barn mates one of which runs in the 6th Alhaan. OLDNOTE – But if you go back 1 week prior in her workouts she worked with Tituba who broke her maiden here last week. Makes the grass a little Greener.
6 Silver Stripes came with a 800K receipt and is the first foal out of a multiple graded stakes placed Turf Route mare. Barn is 2 for 41 in this scenario in the last 5 years. Ill wait and see but could be anything.
7 Love Rhapsody has been working extremely well but another with no excuse in her last when she had a comfortable pace and was caught. Maybe she steps forward off that experience but I will look elsewhere.
8 (A) Moral Turpitude’s debut was on the Dirt, followed by a good performance where off turn she was loaded and full of run at rail when she had to slam on the brakes late. Then her last she had bad luck again when a horse broke down in stretch and she had to be taken up. Not even going to mention the workout report which said the same thing last time this one was in and somehow is still not corrected.
9 (C) Raggedy goes out for Mott and Junior who could not be any hotter. Prolly not gonna get my 2nd start of the meet money like I have in prior years on these two. This is a big angle for this barn at the championship meet, but I typically look for ones who made their debut going long on the grass.
Top Pick – 8 Moral Turpitude
