Gulfstream Park – Late Pick 5 – Saturday (December 27, 2025) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   2 – 4 – 5

#2 Win for the Money is getting some class relief today as this six-year-old veteran is dropping out of Grated Steaks company after a three-month rest; strong connections all around.  #4 Clever Mischief is making his return to the races for new trainer Brendan Walsh after a 10-month layoff, previously he had not run less than second in five consecutive races.  #5 Agate Road has been away from the races for more than a year but this 4-year-old son of Quality Road has shown his ability to be effective when the right pace scenario presents itself.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:   8 – 4

#8 Prevent has excellent need the lead speed and won a very similar race back at the end of November; gets top jockey Irad Ortiz in the saddle.  #4 Private Thoughts is a proven competitor at this level and distance, Tyler Gafflione picks up the mount.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:  8 – 6 – 5

# 8 Moon Spun has great speed and can be versatile even at the sprinting distance of 5 furlongs.  #6 Love Appeals has good tactical speed for sprinting on the turf and picks up the services of jockey Tyler Gaffalione.  #5 Haulin Ice is a proven sprinter on the dirt and after a less than successful Breeders Cup attempt, she now looks to utilize her quickness on the turf.

Race 10 SELECTIONS:   1 – 2

#1  White Abarrio absolutely loves Gulfstream Park and should perform well after the three-month layoff.  #2 Knightsbridge is a four-year-old son of Nyquist that has an excellent mix of speed and stamina.

Race 11 SELECTIONS:   4 – 8 – 5

#4 Capturing returns after a 7th month layoff for trainer Todd Pletcher.   If you draw a line through her last race, she has the resume of a strong competitor.  #8 Modarosa has good early natural speed and is eligible to improve in her second start off the layoff for trainer Riley Mott.  #5 Lying by Omission drops in class for trainer Chad Brown and will be making her second awful long layoff; gets Irad Ortiz in the saddle.

Today’s ticket .50 base (post scratches) : 2,4,5 / 4,8 / 5,6,8 / 1,2 / 4,5,8     cost: $54
