Late Pick 5
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 1 – 3 – 7
#1 Mizzou has good early speed and gets some class relief today. #3 Playing Tricks is a five-year-old gelding with only one prior start; potential abounds for the Chad Brown trainee. #7 Justy Han makes his racing debut today. He has good pedigree, and his workout tab has been consistent.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 5 – 6 – 10 – 1
#5 George Briggs is a hard trying Chad Brown trainee who ships in from New York. He has strong closing speed and gets jockey Irad Ortiz in the irons today. # 6 Founders doesn’t have the top speed rating but is very competitive and gets a rider change to Tyler Gaffalione. #10 Smooth Breeze was given some time off, about six months and ships in from New York as well, for trainer Jorge Abreu. His speed rating trajectory continues to climb and has good versatility. #1 Sigan Viendo has good versatility and is dangerous on the turf, jockey Junior Alvarado will be in the saddle.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 5
#5 Slay the Day makes her third career start today and will be looking to continue the streak she started last time out. This daughter of Into Mischief is fast and should be hard to beat in today’s ninth.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 1 – 3
#1 Commandment ships in for trainer Brad Cox for today’s feature race. This son of Into Mischief showed speed and stamina last time out at Churchill going 7Furlongs, gets Irad Ortiz in the irons. #3 Epic Summer will look to make his presence felt as this son of Vekoma ships in for trainer George Weaver. This start will be his second, his first was impressive; jockey Tyler Gaffalione picks up the mount.
Race 11 SELECTIONS: 5 – 7 – 8 – 11
#5 White Palomino returns to the races after a 5-month freshening for trainer Chad Brown, this son of Kitten’s Joy has a knack for early pressing speed. #7 Concord Green does his best running late and will need a pace to run at to be effective but should have that opportunity in today’s finale. #8 Mary’s Lad broke his maiden last time out at Keeneland and will look to continue to improve off of that effort; jockey Edgard Zayas picks up the riding assignment. #11 Ironsides is a six-year-old veteran that has been much more competitive since moving over to the grass; Irad Ortiz will be aboard.
