Late Pick 5
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.
Race 5 SELECTIONS: 8 – 6 – 4
#8 Royal Majesty drops in class today after finishing a respectable third in a Grade 3 race last time out. #6 Zverev is also getting some class relief as he comes back to the races as a first time gelding. #4 Activist Investing could also be ready for a big race as he returns from a year’s layoff for top connections of trainer Chad Brown and the meets leading rider Irad Ortiz.
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 3 – 4
#3 Call the Cavalry will be making his second start after a long layoff for trainer Kenneth McPeek; should improve off of that effort. #4 Top Maverick has not been to the races in 10 months but his owner trainer Michael Lerman brings this gelding back to a slightly higher class level than we saw him last April.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 2 – 4
#2 Turbulent Force is undefeated in both of his starts and returns to the same level and distance as his last race, there is little doubt that he will be involved in the outcome. #4 Bucchero’s Dude was well bet on debut and won impressively; he will need to improve his final time but he won by five lengths.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 1
#1 Krioyo is the most consistent and progressive runner in today’s 8th race. Although he is stepping up in class he has won three in a row coming from off the pace and we will single him here in hopes of him doing the same again today.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 9 – 8
#6 Amande sprinted on the All-Weather to start her career last month here at Gulfstream Park, on debut she took the lead and ran gamely for the first half of the race. #9 Mischief Night is a well bred daughter of Practical Joke that will be making her second career start for top connections; she is getting Lasix for the first time. #8 Vespera will be running second off the layoff and just missed at a higher level last time out. With the return to the turf and rider change we will look for improvement from this daughter of Volatile.
