HORSESHOE INDIANAPOLIS SPOT PLAYS
April 29, 2025

It’s Derby week, but a few hours away racing resumes at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Here are a couple of plays for today:
RACE 4- #7 THUNDERING HEART
This son of Heart to Heart is badly deserving of another opportunity off a layoff for trainer Genaro Garcia. He debuted against MSW company and was no factor at 41-1. His second start came on the Tapeta at Turfway against much better than what he faces here, and he now moves back to dirt at the rock bottom 5k maiden claiming level. He looms a class play alone on that drop and should be able to race a bit more forwardly after showing increased speed at second asking.
RACE 5 – #1 ONE FINALE
The early part of this meet is replete with horses coming back off layoffs looking for conditioning. That’s likely the case with this daughter of Ready’s Image, who is returning at six panels though her best race came around two turns. She will undoubtedly benefit from having this race behind her, but can also contend for top honors. She needs to get more involved early and has the triple bug on board to keep her more engaged in the opening stages. The price should be fair if we get the 7/2 morning line.
RACE 6 – #3 SIR XANDER
Eight years ago trainer Chad Brown saddled Shagaf in the Kentucky Derby and he now has progeny at the races. Among his first 7 runners to get to the racetrack, 3 have been victorious on debut. The dam here was a multiple winner and trainer Dallas Stewart sends this guy across the border for his 4YO debut with a recent strong 3f breeze at Churchill Downs. He doesn’t have to be much to contend for top honors in here and his 4-1 morning line price would be a gift!
Good luck and stop back by tomorrow as racing continues at Horseshoe Indy!
