Wednesday Scorecard — Nick Tammaro at Saratoga

Nick Tammaro hit three winners on Wednesday’s NY-Bred Showcase Day — and none of them were heavy chalk. Mi Bago ($11.66) and A Little At First ($11.78) were both double-digit payouts, with Bernietakescharge ($8.58) rounding out the trio. His top pick in Race 3 scratched before post time, but his backup Midnight Concerto ran second ($5.84 place). In Race 7, his second pick Willpowered also hit the board behind his winner. Races 6-10 are available exclusively to ITM Plus members — sign up before Saturday and get your first month free.

Nick Tammaro — Saratoga Full Card, June 4, 2026

Belmont Stakes Racing Festival — Day 2

Race 1: 6-5-9-4

The opener features 2-year-olds, some of whom have gaudy workouts and rich purchase prices. Experience still provides a major edge at this stage of the game, so #6 Margie’s Girl is interesting, even as the morning line favourite. She hit her stride late in her debut and wound up finishing with interest. This race is a sixteenth of a mile farther and that will only help. Trainer Kenny McPeek is a solid 22% with 2YO second time starters in MSW races ($2.19 ROI) so there’s every reason to think a better effort is in the offing.

Race 2: 4-6-1-3

There’s value to be had in betting against the favourite here as #6 Mythical returns to the site of her biggest 2-year-old win. #4 Paige Turner is going 2nd off a layoff and figures to be wound a bit tighter for this engagement now that she has a 2026 start behind her. Trainer Cherie DeVaux sends her here off a strong workout on May 25 in company with Grade I-placed turfer Remember Mamba. This filly should get a strong pace to target in the closing stages and figures to be a square price at the windows.

Race 3: 4-8-9-1

The last start of #4 Noble Dynasty was even better than it looks on paper. Steadied shortly after the start, he fell well back of the leaders before unleashing a menacing move on the far turn. He battled all the way to the wire, finishing a neck back of a wire-to-wire winner who had enjoyed things all his way on the front end. This son of Kingman now moves up in class to face graded stakes foes, but has plenty of seasoning in this type of event after his 2-year-old season. There’s pace for him to run at in here and the class jump is negligible given the strength of allowance races in Kentucky at the moment.

Race 4: 8-6-2-7

#8 Reality Star is interesting off a maiden win earned in workmanlike fashion last time at Keeneland. She was just off the pace that day and wore down the pacesetters before edging clear late. The quality of that race remains to be seen, but she obviously has upside given the rapid improvement of late. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. opting to go here is notable, given he has a choice of mounts nowadays, and the most recent workout in company with Ogden Phipps entrant Cassiar was reportedly very strong. The favourite is somewhat beatable and this is the right candidate to do so.

Race 5: 2-1-12-4

Nothing went right second time out for #2 Dance Class, who was wide and well back of the early pace as the field straightened out for the run down the backstretch. Jockey Joe Bravo then asked her to make a wild middle move while wide on the course. She understandably tired late and now cuts back in distance while showing the profile of a horse who might be best served sprinting. There’s pace in here for her to chase late and the price will be right given her two prior running lines hardly show much.

Tonight at Saratoga — PTF’s Belmont Gold Cup Guide

Horse-by-Horse Guide: Belmont Gold Cup (G2)

Peter Thomas Fornatale  |  At The Races  |  Live on Sky Sports Racing tonight

Thursday’s Belmont Gold Cup is the longest Graded event in North America — two miles on the inner turf — and returns for its 12th edition. The winner receives a coveted “Golden Ticket”: an automatic berth into the Group 1 Lexus Melbourne Cup. PTF has the full eight-runner guide for our broadcast partners at At The Races.

This year’s field is notably absent of European raiders, leaving a domestic affair headlined by Corruption (7-5), the Mark Casse-trained Medaglia d’Oro gelding who showed genuine Grade 1 credentials finishing third in the Turf Classic at Churchill last month. Reigning champion Parchment Party is entered for main track only and is unlikely to face the starter with firm turf forecast.

PTF’s verdict: #3 Tawny Port (top pick, Flavien Prat/Miguel Clement) — solid form at Kentucky Downs over 12 furlongs suggests he’ll handle two miles, and Prat’s hold-up tactics are ideal in a field with surprising pace on paper. #6 Concord Green is the each-way alternative if he drifts to double figures — War Front gelding by Shug McGaughey, least exposed in the field. #7 Corruption is kept on side in exactas above and below the other two.

PTF breaks down all eight runners — tactical profiles, pace scenario, and the Melbourne Cup implications of each horse’s chances. One runner catches his eye as a potential each-way play if the market drifts to double figures. Another he keeps firmly on side in exactas. His main selection — the one he makes the most compelling case for — is waiting for you at the link.

Belmont Stakes Data Deep Dives

Two outstanding analytical pieces posted this week for the serious Belmont handicapper.

In-Race Data Analysis — Belmont Stakes & Epsom Derby 2026

PTF with Adam Mills (Total Performance Data) & Joe Applebaum (Waigr)  |  Players’ Podcast

Adam Mills of Total Performance Data returns with GPS-driven in-race data on every Kentucky Derby runner pointing to the Belmont. His key finding: Renegade is the faster horse — better stride frequency, better turn of foot, higher top speed at Churchill — and Golden Tempo needs to be closer than he was in the Derby or it’s over. Mills is fading Chief Wallabee (“didn’t run the fastest furlong split at any point in the race”) and is intrigued by Growth Equity as a place play whose stride profile matches the profile of a Grade 1 winner at Saratoga over this distance. PTF’s official pick: Renegade.

Joe Applebaum introduces Waigr — a machine learning wagering tool now live on the NYRA Bets app. His model’s prices: Renegade 5-2 (top choice at ~28-29% win probability), Emerging Market 6-1 (value), Golden Tempo 5-1, Commandment 7-1. He fades Ottinho and Growth Equity as throwouts (~47-48-1). His framework: bet prices, not horses — if Renegade goes 5-2, bet him; if 9-5, pass.

Top 5 Data Points for the Belmont Stakes 2026

PTF with Corey Patton (Pramana Labs)  |  Players’ Podcast

Corey Patton, CEO of Pramana Labs, brings AI-generated statistical angles from 35 years of Belmont data. Five key findings:

1. Inside post + near lead at half mile = 35% win rate at this distance/surface at Saratoga over the last 10 years, +4.05 ROI. Hurts Golden Tempo (outside post, inevitable deep closer). Helps Powershift (PP2, inside, likely on or near lead).

2. No stakes winner has won the Belmont since Palace Malice in 2013. Hurts Chief Wallabee, Vitruvian Man, Powershift, Ottinho — none have won a stakes race of any kind.

3. No horse coming off a maiden has won in 35 years — the best finish was third (Nolan’s Cat, 2005). Specific knock on Powershift.

4. Derby runner-ups: only Empire Maker (2003) and Victory Gallop (1998) won the Belmont since 1991 out of 20 attempts. Not a slam dunk for Renegade, though his rail trip in the Derby is a mitigating factor — horses that got off the rail in the Derby have won the Belmont in 2 of the last 3 times it happened (Dornoch 2004, Mo Donegal 2022).

5. Four consecutive increasing Beyers = 43% finish in the money (3 winners from 21 starters since 1997). Golden Tempo is the only horse in this field with that profile. Positive. Also: Curlin sire line + Bernardini damsire = best pedigree combo for Saratoga dirt routes over the last 10 years. Golden Tempo. Also positive.

Corey’s pick: Chief Wallabee. PTF’s official pick: Renegade.

Friday Stakes Preview & HorsePlayers Tour Kickoff — PTF & Matt Bernier

Players’ Podcast  |  Posted Yesterday

A genuine treat: Matt Bernier — a founding figure of the ITM universe and one of the sharpest handicappers in the business — is back on the airwaves for the launch of the 2026 ITM HorsePlayers Tour. PTF and Matt break down Friday’s full stakes programme at Saratoga, the eve of Belmont Stakes Day, with an eye to the HorsePlayers Tour Pick & Pray contest format.

Their key plays for Friday’s five Grade 1 stakes: Grand Job in the Bed o’ Roses (7f dirt, PP1 — PTF loves her loose on the lead); Fitz Wright in the Wonder Again; Meaning in the Acorn (PTF) vs Always a Runner (Matt, making a bold claim she may be the best 3YO filly running all weekend); Portfolio Duration in the New York (both); Fully Subscribed in the Ogden Phipps. In the nightcap: Daunting (Pletcher/Irad, 15-1 ML) as a live longshot to close the card.

Matt also confirmed he is eligible to play in the BCBC this year and is all-in on the HorsePlayers Tour. Don’t miss this one — it’s the kind of unscripted, two-experts-riffing show that built this channel.
